Damm I wish I’d seen those 2 fly together that year, great footage
Agree, that is some cracking footage.
I was lucky enough to see Black 6 at one of the Shuttleworth shows – not sure which year, but great memories of that incredible whine and all that power.

Have to say that I find it strange that the pervading view seems to be that TFC will never operate a twin simply because Mr Grey sr is not able to fly them.
There are other pilots who I assume would be able to fly a twin for TFC. E.g. Peter Kynsey flew the tigercat. Mr Grey jr?

I also have a brief report of raids on my local RAF station Henlow detailed in a booklet from the station itself:
first raid of the war on 3pm 11th September 1940, ten bombs dropped but little damage and no casualties. Other raids took place but only one with any casualties: 26th September 1940 by a twin-engine aircraft, in which 6 servicemen where killed.
Anyone have any more information on these raids on Henlow?

I thought it was well done. Some good interviews with veterans and plently of interesting footage. Presenter was a good choice too, in that he seems a real enthusiast, rather than the celebs they usually roll out (e.g. Ewan McGregor).
Understand the ‘boneyard’ comment could touch a raw nerve with those involved, but I can see why he would say that – the airframes are exposed to the elements and some look quite tired. also the place is not as well off and manicured as many other museums. Who knows – perhaps it might stimulate some more visits or even some rich benefactors to make some contributions.

Very nice, particularly like the 3rd shot in the first group.

Fantastic! One of the best threads on here in a long time.
Reminds me of hours spent in Vancouver library looking through their bound copies of After The Battle

Hmm, not sure I see one unique exception as ‘setting a precedent’, and I’m only repeating what’s already been said. But if you feel that strongly you could always lobby Mr Grey and tell him his choice of piston engines only is wrong !

Interesting though that in the other thread with video of the ’93 Legends the T-33 was in the show.
I have been to many Legends but gave it a miss this year because there was nothing very different this time around. Nothing would keep me away if the 262 (or Mosquito) was there.

Really nice pics
Is that the Zero that was in pieces on the floor in Duxford several years ago?

Absolutely stunning! What a great story.

Maybe 7 or 8 years ago (I don’t recall the exact year) at Legends I recall a Mustang tail chase with at least 8 aircraft. In that tail chase there were so many aircraft that the guys at the back seemed to get perilously close to the guys coming back down the other side.
Re: the Breitling fighter, I never quite get why there seems to be such an attraction to old aircraft flying very close together. With the Breitling fighters, one could appreciate the superb airmanship in keeping these different types so close together, but surely the point is to display the aircraft, and to me they flew unnecessarily close.
Just my opinion.
