Interesting four bladed propellor. Not sure the 190 ever operated with such an airscrew. Also it looks as though cowling profile is different to other flug werk examples. Is it still running an Asch radial?
Chris I think the answer to your question is here

Thanks WJ244, that does indeed answer the question. It’s certainly different!
There wouldn’t be a snowflake chance in hell that this aircraft could fly over here!
No crying!!!
We are about to commence painting Buchon G-BWUE into its B of B film colours as Yellow 10 this week. So hopefully it will rekindle some happy days when you see it! 🙂
Now that is something I can’t wait to see !!
Rest in Peace Sir, and Thank You.
Wonderful stuff!
That has Dan Griffith’s trademark handling stamped all over it.
In my opinion, a finer Spitfire solo display you will not see; the most dynamic display flying since the Hannas but almost different in every way.
He constantly uses the famed tight turning circle of the aircraft meaning the display is always in front of the crowd, so much so that you can hear the two .50 cals screaming like a P-51D.
According to a video posted on Facebook, Buchon G-AWHH has just been successfully test flown. Great stuff!
GWAD was also on my doorstep, and as a child of the 80s this was where the warbird enthusiast’s seed was well and truly planted for me. I miss that place.
Throwing around those little foam gliders with the blue plastic freewheeling propellors, getting bored waiting for the show to start.
Sitting in the Sally B supporters enclosure, getting blown away with a face full of smoke when she started up in readiness for her slot.
Getting excited to see this famous chap called Gary flying around pretending to be Japanese.
Concorde, the Vulcan, Phantom sneak attacks and of course MH434 and Ray Hanna.
I worked in Kings Hill for a while a few years ago, I spent many a lunch time wandering around the toy town housing estates working out where everything was and casting my mind back.
Such a damn shame.
Thanks for sharing the videos Trolly Aux, i’ll be sure to give these a viewing later.
Hi Archer,
I asked the very same question on the ARCo Facebook page and they decided to go with the regular Mk.IX style lower cowling in order to preserve the aesthetics of the traditional Spitfire shape, whilst every other major PR detail remains faithful. Such as curved windscreen, cameras etc.
Hey Chris,
Yeah she has got the extended oil tank, however, we had a lengthy discussion about the chin cowl and all decided to go with a standard one rather than the bulged version.
Basically, we felt that the bulged cowling really disrupts the Spitfire’s lines and massively detract from her otherwise beautiful aesthetics. We will likely fabricate a bulged version so that we have the option to change it in the future should we wish but her day to day cowling will be standard.
All the Best,
The ARCo Team
Incredible, thanks for sharing. Exceptional airmanship.
Witnessed it first hand at the AirSpace end on the day with my heart in my mouth.
Fornicating spheroids!
I was at school almost within sight of Headcorn (used to watch the Islander dropping parachutists from the front stairwell) at the time – and this is the first I’ve heard of it!
I guess it’s a bit late to go and take a butchers…
Adrian
Still plenty to see down here on a good day at Headcorn. Aero Legends put on a veritable treat at the weekend with their two Spitfires and the Bygone aviation Hurricane, along with their Dove and T6 of course.
Aha, understood Mark. How different she looks now!
I’m surprised there are none in the ‘making of’ book? I don’t have it to hand at the moment, a great little eBay purchase that was.
Yet here we are 30 years on and not one ground shot to my knowledge has surfaced of AR213 in PoC livery.
Anybody out there?
Is this not AR213 in the set from the material Daz posted?

Blooming marvellous, thanks for sharing Daz! Been meaning to give it another watch, it’s been a while. I used to have it on repeat as a lad, wearing out my Dad’s VHS recording from the original showing on ITV.
Also, I’ve lived down the road from Headcorn all my life and never realised it was used as a base for filming; you learn something new every day.
I’ve been getting this too for approx. the last week only on my Android mobile using Samsung Internet app. Works fine in Chrome though…

Which has the same Director as Anglia Aircraft Restorations Limited. Looks like she could be joining an already impressive fleet. Great news.
