Wow! very informative indeed, thankyou Ant. The spitfire paint looks very good, i like an authentic paint scheme.

Great stuff, thanks Ant. I look forward to it.
At airshows as a lad, my dad would always encourage me to wave at the mad basterds standing in the back seats of the Swordfish waving, with the Union Jack flying!
Here’s another picture of LS326 –
FW-190 A-5?
I notice that the Spitfire Ia has light grey undersides as opposed to the more common early war sky colour applied to mk.I’s and II’s during the battle of britain and just after. Is it perhaps representing the colours of an OTU that served until later in the war as AR213 did. There were talks of painting her (AR213) back in this as well IIRC?
How bl**dy awful, perhaps i shouldn’t have asked. As we’ve all mentioned before it’s a shame to look back and see those that are not with us anymore, man and machine.
Thanks.
Yes i noticed the Meteor when i was scanning the photo in. Where is she now?
Dammit, i knew it was either a Pup or a Camel!
Oh well, better start revising! :p
Thats a V2 rocket on the left is it not? And the Biplane hanging up is of the Sopwith variety i’m sure. I’m afraid i am not very good at first world war aircraft recognition! But i’ll take a stab in the dark and say Sopwith Pup.
Am i right?! 😀
hmmmmmmmm….MOOOOSE!
Great picture septic –
What a lovely aeroplane that moose. now don’t get me wrong, i love Ferocious Frankie, some people said it was a boring repaint, but i like it. However! Moose was THE one. Moose/Candyman was my first ever encounter with a mustang. It is this aircraft, in these colours which defines a mustang to me. Well, there might be more colourful mustangs out there, i know there are, but it is our dear old Moose which started things off with me, and i owe a lot to it!
Here’s another picture of a mustang…you guessed it, it’s moose again!
I think they were, BigB, Janie, Jumpin Jaques and Miss Helen.
Another photo will follow shortly
Anyone remember this? Slightly before my time! 1981 West Malling i believe, after filming of the TV series ‘We’ll Meet Again’ had finished the cast were paraded along the crowd on the back of a USAAF jeep.
B-17 Sally B.
– In my opinion this was her prettiest colour scheme. It was worn during the mid to late eighties IIRC, to be repainted in 1989 to her current scheme as memphis belle.
I remember asking one of the Preservation Trust team why she never returned to these colours, and of course he told me it was down to money! Ok, i was young, naive, i don’t care what colour she is now as long as she stays up in the sky!
The business end of G-FIRE – GGRRRROWWWLL!!
TFC Bearcat under stormy skies!
Ok then guys, here’s a few more piccies for you. Could you help me out by somehow identifying the year if possible. thanx
