Was it brilliant I have been trying to look for pics off the show but I cant see any. I must pop back down to Headcron a fantastic airfield I like going on Saturdays to see the Parachute jumps I see they have a new Let 410 this time and not the normal one that comes down for the summer.Chris do you live In headcorn? I hope the Yak 3 does base there, as all we have is Tiger moths and the Harvard G-BGHU
BTW Is the YAK 50 still there thats in RAF Colours?
James
I live in Langley, a short drive away but tend to spend most weekends near or at Headcorn, model flying.
Yes the RAF painted Yak-50 is still there as is at least one other Yak-52. The tiger club I believe has Tigers G-ANGA and G-ASKP in service at the moment whilst the legendary G-ACDC is undergoing refurbishment.
I haven’t seen the Harvard ‘Carly’ fly there for a few years now, I heard something about the owner not being able to fly it for medical reasons. I hope that’s not true.
Yes I do hope the Yak-3 stays! It would be wonderful having a true warbird living locally 😉
I’m at Headcorn tomorrow so i’ll see if there are any updates.

Crikey what happened there?! Did he try landing on the taxiway rather than the Runway? Or was it a mis-judged turn?
Didn’t see any damage when I saw it up-close. But then, I wasn’t looking for any. I’m surprised the owner even spoke to me at all, let alone let me free to photo his pride and joy after that!
Thanks chaps, I guess it was “right place/right time!”
She is stunning, I’ve always had a soft spot for late war Russian warbirds. Would love to see an La-5FN or La-7 in formation with this. We can dream!
Here’s a couple more photos, one of which will confirm the identity for you 😉 😉

Quick google search directed me to a thread from this very forum:

I don’t think it is anything to panic about. It’s probably only visiting. After all don’t we get warbirds coming to the UK from America on visits.
You are absolutely right of course. I guess with Princess Liz, No Guts and now the Tigercat gone I just got a bit emotional! 😀 😀 😀
It is of course entirely up to the owner of the aircraft to do as he/she pleases with it, and crikey, if it were not for people like Mr Stephen Grey we wouldn’t have the thriving warbird scene we have now.
Incidentally it will be nice to see Twilight Tear in formation with TFC’s new stang Miss Velma at this year’s legends. From the pictures i’ve seen on airshowbuzz.com, she’s a real beauty!
anyone?
Ok hands up!
Time to come clean!
Sorry for the late april fool there chaps, i’m afraid it’s nothing more than a quick photoshop job I put together from a photo of the Bayliss Tr.IX whilst frustrated and slightly bored at work. 😉
A few years ago an author of an article in one of the recognised aero modelling mags pulled a similer stunt at a meet of his local modelling club.
He doctered a set of scale drawings to suggest a twin Spitfire, his varient being from a pair of low back MK.XIV fuselages. He then made a rubber powered model of this invention and with his forged drrawings for documentation took great delight in hearing a lot of the so called experts of the club telling other “less informed” modellers about the history of this little known Spitfire varient.
Is it me or does the pic Chris Broad posted look like ML407. A Spitfire made for 4?
I guess I partly got the idea from the article mentioned above and as a result of my overwhelming fascination for the Spitfire! To me it’s always been one of those ‘what if’s?’.
It’s been interesting to see peoples responses and I apologise if I got a few peoples hearts racing 😀 but wouldn’t this have just been a fantastic looking aeroplane?!
The twin engined Spitfire was a project that had reached the mock up stage at the Woolston factory when it was bombed and no further work was done on it.
Is there any documentation to support this New Forest, any photos at all?
p.s
And Mark12, you are correct, there is no British Wartime Photo Archive website… I’m afraid all http://www.bwpa.co.uk leads us to is the British Womens Pilots Association! 😀 😀
I’ll be there, as I am every year.
Looks like another good one! Don’t think i’ve ever seen Miss Demeanour in the ‘Metal’ so that’ll be nice. RAF Role demo looks interesting…Am I right in thinking this was meant to happen last year but the RAF pulled out at the last minute, which led to the Pyros being set off in the 8thAF set piece with Ferocious Frankie and Sally B?
Also, it’ll be worth it just for MH434. Alas ‘the Master’ is no longer with us, but as Nigel Lamb showed us last year, Ray’s Legend will live on through that Spitfire.
And I’m sure whoever may pilot her this time round, it’ll be fantastic.
Roll on June!:) 🙂 🙂
RNZAF extremely low!!!
Just WOW!

I take it this was before the RNZAF downsized? Looks like a skyhawk?
I’d be really interested in reading that article James, how can i get hold of a copy?
Thanks guys for your excellent responses!
I forgot about airliners.net, silly me.
Will jump over there now to take a peek. 🙂
This film must be seen.
Hi Mysticpuma,
I’ve been meaning to congratulate you on this video over at ‘ubizoo’ for the past few days.
It is simply breath-taking.
The story itself is compelling and it’s execution is quite awe-inspiring. You have obviously worked extremely hard on this, and your efforts have certainly paid off! If Mr. Johnson were alive today, i’m certain he’d be quite taken aback.
Having created a few videos using IL-2 myself (you may be familiar with Duel of Eagles?) I can really appreciate and understand just how much work has gone into your production!
Excellent work, cannot believe it’ll be your last. Maybe when Storm of War comes….? 😀 😀
You have inspired me to get working on a new project myself.
Thanks again for allowing us to view such a work of art for free.
All the best!
Chris (aka. bear_boradin)
A friend e-mailed me this link today of an amazing low flying german helicopter.
Has to be seen to be believed! 😮
Excellent videos!
I was a massive fan of the Breitling Fighters and really miss their riveting performances. As a tribute to the team and the pilots over the last few years i’ve been developing a Virtual Breitling Fighters using the IL-2 Sturmovick series of flight simulator. If you head over to http://www.virtualwarbirdart.co.uk you’ll be able to see some recent screenshots of a 3-ship practice and in the movies section some short clips of us practising a while ago. We’re currently working on getting the 4th pilot up to scratch so we can fly the full display as per the real team.
The simulator is regarded as one of the most realistic in the world available today, and i must say from ‘virtual’ experience, it’s blooming hard work flying formation aerobatics in four completely different aircraft!:D
Lol, yes thanks T5. Incidentally, continuous thanks to you and http://www.web-wings.co.uk for hosting our downloads!!!
It’s been a busy year for me with moving house, family emigrating, work expanding, splitting from girl etc… But hopefully, i can devote a bit more time to it all now!
