I believe the general separation for aircraft is 1000 feet vertically and 5 miles horizontally, although I’m not sure whether that applies to transatlantic flights.

    Paul

That is regualer restriction’s over main land. I think it will be 2000ft vertically and 7 and half miles apart

I think that airport will be like Innsbruck or Funachl. You either need a licence to land or it has to be captins only manning the plane. Man or Man i thought that plane was going to hit the top of them trees

if you were planning a 2 type fleet for Jet2. One for sort/medium haul and one type for medium/long haul what would your choices of aircraft be? For me it would be B739s and leased B762s until B778s became available. Im an Airbus man myself byt it makes sense to keep your already trained 733 crews within type, even though the A3-narrow body fleet is in my opinion comfier as a self-loader.

    Steve

Well my personal oppion is that now they have got the succesfull base route (I.E CDG AMS NCE BCN FAO FCO BGY ALC AGP and PRG) should upgrade the fleet to a 738 on them routes freeing up 733’S to open new routes. Then all the secondry route(I.E CMF TLS SXF DUS and BUD) to a 738 freeing up the 733’S to be retired and eventually jet 2 could have a all 738 fleet.

Then what you done with the short haul you start with the Medium/Long. I think that again i would lease younger models of the 757 (eg 5-10 years) and replace the older models. Then what you do is again lease younger models of the 757 and open routes to RHO PFO LCA AYT DLM from LBA/MAN. Then what you do is order or lease order 783’S. The choice for this is it can do Long Haul like the 762 which will be a good thing as LBA could have a service to the carabiean and Florida.

TBH this is beacuse they have OVER orded the 737-800’S and see potenial in the Alicante and Velencia market so really everyone should of expected this one coming. Just dont like the Doncaster-Alicante route as FR will have competion from TOM who fly this Route.

If they are going to keep on getting New A/C why dont they open routes into Turkey Cyprus Isareal Egypt Greece

It’s true that Jet2 will be getting 5 B757s, purchased and leased. The idea that the company will go long-haul is not necessarily true either. However, if it were to go long-haul then it would probably start by using the existing 75 fleet. In my opinion, this would only happen from MAN as the runway at LBA is to short to enable the 757 to rotate if carry sufficient fuel. The runway at MAN will allow the aircraft to hop over the pond, probably to Canada, re-fuel and make the jump to JFK (being the expected destination of a long-haul flight).

Like I said, I would like to see a quote from the Dart Group statement rather than from a journalist’s interpretation of the statement. Third hand information is how unhelpful rumours like this start.

    That’s all, rant over. 🙂

Will they be getting 5 more and were have you got the existing 75 fleet from?

Well how will it fare if DFS got the connection

The first flights will begin in December to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Geneva, followed in January by London Heathrow.

In February, the airline will commence services to Budapest, Faro, Malaga and Rome.

Amesterdam U2 oparate’s on that route(no more can be said). BCN and GVA is a good choice and if they keep GVA on all year that will be even better than just seasonal. LHR is great one beacuse they could have a codeshare with BA for connecting passengers onto Long Haul Service’s to West Coast of North America South America and Canada and the Middle East/Asia/Austirlla.

Budapest is a great one i can see this one working if all flights are full and with no competers that will make it even more worth while in taking the risk.
FAO i can see working with only one low cost competer to beat but Malaga is taking a little bit of a risk as both U2 and LS oparate this route with both carriers offering low fares if you book in advance. If they want full loads the only way they are going to beat them is offer really low fares.

Rome again U2 oparate this route so if they have full loads aer lingus are taking a bit of a risk

Maybe if they got a Alliance with Continental American Airlines and Delta as all have big presence at EWR/JFK and could offer loads of onward connections.

It is not that old news only announced in the August 2007 Edition of Airliner World so really not that old. In there it said that they will use the 787’S on routes to America Hawaii and Hong Kong and Middle East.

That is not the point though. The point is “opportunity cost”.

What can they now do with those LHR slots that they couldn’t do before? What would they rather operate, LHR-LBA or LHR-LAX?

No brainer. This route and others are for the chop, whether they are filling the planes or not. 🙁

There not going to drop it beacuse “SFO” is better. They will drop freqiunces and make it a bigger a/c EG A321/A330-200

Instead of sitting in front of computer screens saying totally hypothetical new routes can not possibly work without actually doing any serious research, let’s just wait until the damned things get delivered, if they get delivered!

Well there is Enough Demand for the Yorkshire Folk to go to Tenerife which makes me think that the 767 purchased(Or Leased) will be put on that route freeing up a 757 to start a new service to maybe PFO or LCA

And no way would they go from no flights straight to a 767 at dsa!! there are no establised customers and destiantions from dsa that could sustain a 767 with jet2, even if this rumour was true (hope not!! ) then surely they wouls start ops with a 733?

regarding long haul, in a simple yes/no answer are places like SFB, JFK, POP, DXB within a range of a 767 (or 757????) from lba? I guess there would be no issues with getting a 767 to alc or pmi from lba?

Maybe if you read it i said a 757 could be based there to help to the canaries

Edit: DXB dosnt make sense as Emirates oparate from NCL/MAN

Anyway this is a Jet 2 Discussion. So what i said before. My Mums Friend is a hostess and she said that the are begining flight from MAN and LBA to the Medditerian(First Destination Been PFO or LCA). So either they are going to get the 767-2 to do that route or replace a 757 with a 767 so the free 757 can do the route or they are opening a new Base (Robin Hood) sending a 757 over replacing the 757 with a 767-2

Edit: I think that it is a Little stupid going to Robin Hood b/c Thomson offer low cost fares on a number of Europhean Destinations and also they will have serious compition with the World’s Worst Low Cost Airline Ryanair
