    theres the 3 b-29s that were reverse engineered in to the TU-4, a b-25 form the Doolittle raid was reported flyable in the mid 50’s, im sure there are many from vietnam or other places that were tested as well

    i have pics taken last year if you are interested, wings, 2 engines, wing has some restoration done but still in rough shape

    NAS North Island started in 1910 and is still going strong today, I think it was the first military field on the west coast.

    a good book is Strangers in a strange land by heinz henry stafler, 2 volumes of
    all aircraft that went to switzerland, most american bombers but a p-51, Mosquito, several ju-88’s, awesome book. It should be available on amazon or
    other sources

    March FIeld is outside of Riverside about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, it’s on the 215 south of the 60. It used to be a SAC base but now the Reserves have it, theres usualy 6-7 c-17 and 15 or so KC-135 there.

    thanks for the help, i thought it was a mossie but wasn’t quite sure. two merlin 25 right hand engines were nearby but nothing else.
    the parts are located at chino airport in california (kcno).
    not quite vintage but nearby were 4 single seat saab j-35 draken and a two seater, all in storage,
    no registration numbers visable though.
