You poor thing, getting forced into watching that guff!
You were forced, right?
What is wrong with Neighbours?
It is a perfectly good soap…quite watchable, and even more so with the plane crashing… :p
The 767’s are not going to be replaced as such, they will most likely be operated on medium haul routes that are popular.
Well I have not heard anything about that…however, if they did do as you say, they would proabably use them on their Cyprus routes, as these are scheduled services (DP, not FCA code!)
Going to New York on a travel and tourism course, yet we’re on an airline/airport ops course and can’t even make it to MAN. Lovely.
I was in a similar position to you…
For my course, we were told we would be going to Bristol Airport to meet some of the management, and have a look around, however, that never materialised, so last year I went on the travel and tourism courses trip to Orlando…hehe.
Just to clarify – my original posting in no way condones the actions of the scrotes who stole the jackets. It was a genuine attempt to see if the massed knowledge here confirmed or refuted my theory that underseat jackets are a total placebo, meant to give the passengers something to fiddle around with in the last few minutes of their life, in preference to pointless panic.
Moggy
Well Moggy you are entitled to your opinion, but I certainly welcome the possibility of surviving a ditching with the use of a life-jacket, rather than (as you said) use the last minutes of my life in some sort of ‘pointless panic’ 😀
Those lifejackets are, in my opinion, a completely pointless exercise in passenger ‘reassurance’
(But I’m happy to be corrected if anyone can)
Moggy
I strongly dought you would be saying that if a flight you were on a flight had to ditch?
Any reassurance is better than none at all, IMHO! 😀
I have just finished studying about CO at university… we where studying the management schemes put in place when Gordon Bethune was CEO, amazing to know what he did to turn the airline around (read From Worst To First for more info!), so it is a shame to know that they are going to make a loss…
Is there a new CEO or is Gordon still at the helm?
These 767s, are they to tide them over untill the 787s arrive? Certainly seems so to me.
Indeed they are Sandy. I had the pleasure of working with FCA, through the ground handling agency that covered their ground operations, during summer last year. According to the supervisor that I got to know, and their website (http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/info/aboutus/flightspress.html), they have signed a letter of intent with Boeing for six 787’s and are the first charter airline in Europe to do so. It is due to come into service to replace the 767’s in 2009.
Big thank you to all, especially to tenthije for last post – it has certainly has made me think twice… 😀
One option though is to buy the ASSETS of a failed company. In particular the AOC is worthwhile. Other then that most assets are most likely mortgaged anyway so not worth the hassle.
Perhaps I could buy the assests of Alpha One… :D:diablo::D
Can anyone help to explain this to me…?
Words that do exist but are often considered non-words
For example:
James Joyce, known for his distinctive style, made up nine 100- and one 101-letter long words in his novel Finnegans Wake, the most famous of which is Bababadalgharaghtakamminarronnkonnbronntonnerronntuonnthunntrovarrhounawnskawntoohoohoordenenthurnuk. Appearing on the first page, it allegedly is the symbolic thunderclap representing the fall of Adam and Eve. As this word appears nowhere else except in reference to this passage, it is generally not accepted as a “real” word.
Intresting?
Why is this?
Any answers/explaination appreciated…

Unless you have natural entrepreneurial skills you don’t stand a chance.
Sounds like a schoolboy dream to me!
In sorts you are right, it is a schoolboy dream. I really wanted to join the RAF, but was told I couldn’t because of my eyesight (I wear glasses!), so since then I have focused my attention to commerical avaition and the possibility of setting up my own airline…
I personally don’t see how you need experience in the industry in order to set up your own airline, Stelios certainly didn’t and when he set up easyJet, he based it on the principles of Southwest Airlines, and look where he is today!
And it also seems that without giving you more infomation, you are not able to help any further…so here it is in a nutshell.
I want to do something on the similar scale as easyJet, but using the principles of an airline like JetBlue, which gives the passengers a better service and value for money. I was thinking about using Southampton as a base, because it is the only airport in the South East/West of England that I think has got a potential market…I was orignally thinking about using Manston, but have been discouraged since EUJet went bust.
As cheesebag has stated, funding is going to the biggest problem, as I would need to attract the help of an investor in order to provide the start-up capital needed, but can I not sell like 48% of my business so that I get the finance, and still retain a controlling share?
The other option would be to consider the possibility of taking a failing airline and transform it into a better airline (i.e Olympic).
Im lead to Believe that the airline companies pass the details of banned Individuals to each other,I think this guy will find it very difficult to get a flight home , good chance that he will be charged and prosecuted in the States and might serve a jail sentence there,
You are right about that. FBI took him off the plane at SFB and charged him for ‘interrfering with the duties of the cabin crew’. He could face jail sentance of up to 20 years…!
…and all that just for having too much to drink and getting on your high horse! 😀
Harsh but fair in my opinion… :diablo:
Blimey…a bit different from opening a sandwich shop, do you have a business background or one in aviation?
Well if you call studying for a degree in airline and airport operations, and six months experience working at LGW for a ground handling company, then yes, I do have a background, otherwise no…
I need people that are interested in helping me…? 😉
Germans find the word squirrel impossable to say.
Me thinks a ‘test’ of this one is in order… :diablo::D:p
