Does this Virgin consortium actually exist or is it just the SRB publicity machine?…
Well at first I think it was a bit difficult to tell…but this news article from 30/11/08 seems to suggest Virgin are interested in putting a bid together, but it does not mention EasyJet, so not sure if they are involved or not?

Virgin don’t need to own LGW in order to operate more flights there.
Of course I know this, but if they did win the bid, they would naturally increase the no. of services they provided from the airport in order to put as much pressure on BA as possible, but until they know the actual outcome, I dont see them adding any new routes just yet.
If they are successful though I could easily see a JFK/EWR route being one of the first to be introduced, and possibly LAX, ORD & MIA as other possible routes to be launched soon after.
I would not be at all surprised to see them pull out of LGW altogether in the future, especially if they get approval for the alliance with AA and IB and their proposed merger with Qantas, all three of whom only operate to/from LHR and none out of LGW!
Also, if Virgin are successful with their consortium-led bid to buy LGW, they have said they would launch more services from LGW, so BA might consider focusing their attention on operating as many services from LHR as possible.
But this is just my opinion.:)
1stly..no such thing as a stupid question
2ndly the fluid has no efect on either metal or composite structure.
Rgds Cking
1stly…always possibility of a stupid answer though!:D:diablo:
2ndly…thanks for that, i assumed the de-icing fluid was acidic based!:o
Whatever floats your boat…?:D:diablo:
Certainly wouldn’t find a monstrosity like that in my back garden!:)

Of course, that would mean getting up a little bit earlier ??
Good Lords no; you trying to tell me the youth of today would get up earlier just to go to school and arrive on time rather than spend those extra few precious minutes tucked up nice and warm in their beds!:D:diablo:
They should think how I feel having to leave the house at 4.30am to my car greeting me with a ‘BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP’, a red flashing light and an electronic display screen which reads ‘-4, EXTREMELEY LOW TEMPERATE’ when I turn the key in the ignition…talk about stating the bloody obvious!

The only planes she says she knows 100% of the time are the A-10 and SR-71.
And we get to see loads of those over here in the UK don’t we…:p:rolleyes:
Nice A380 pics, Jon. Has been ages since I’ve been to Heathrow, so excuse my ignorance in not knowing where these were taken from. :p. Which runways were in use?
Hi Tom, the first few pics were taken outside the main entrance to a hotel next to LHR, but then I asked the car park attendant, and he said the hotel has a terrace bar/viewing area which is open to the public, so I went and had a look at it and stayed there for a while. It is really only good when aircraft are departing on 27R and arriving on 09L, but the biggest problem is that you are facing the sun at all times which is not so good!
Will be more than happy to show you the next time you are down this way and you can judge for yourself.
Thanks for the comment.:)
Thanks for the comments chaps.
Yeah I have to agree with you B77W.
Bristol_Rob, when are you next coming to LHR? PM me when you know and if I am free, I will arrange to meet up with you.:)

Now the moment you’ve all been waiting for…the Emirates Airbus A380-800:
Before you look at these pics, I must say that the EK002 was suppose to depart at 13:45pm, but it didn’t eventually leave until just after 15:00pm, but even more annoying was the fact that they changed the runways just before it took off, so it ended up departing from the southern runway instead (I was not impressed to say the least!), so that is why the images are not of the best quality!

Zoomed in and cropped from the one above:

Well, I hope you enjoyed them, any comments welcomed.:)
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see that if he does actually go ahead with it he strikes some sort of sponsorship deal with Virgin Galactic to help promote them and earn himself a side income to his normal day job of F1 racing; he’s also a brand ambassador for Learjet you know!:)

Great selection of shots there Rob.:)
Just out of interest, my friend who is originally from the Bristol area told me the other day that Flybe had pulled out of BRS, but judging by the fact that you have got pictures of their Dash8 Q400’s amongst your collection, this appears not to be the case…
Have you heard any news on this front?
I ran to the study grabbed your binoculars’ and had a look, also she spurted it had a number on the back”
LMAO. That is hilarious:D
