1. People who chat on mobile phones whilst in the quiet zone of a train
2. People who drive through red lights
3. Leaves on the line in winter as an excuse for late running trains
4. Local councils obsessed about health and safety
5. Self service checkouts in supermarkets
My Best:
1 – Singapore Airlines
2 – British Airways
3 – Air New Zealand
4 – Qantas
5 – BMI
My Worst:
1 – Ryanair
2 – easyJet
3 – Monarch
4 – Emirates
5 – Cathay Pacific
My Best:
1 – SIN (every persons need is catered for, airside hotels, cinemas, bars, shopping, need I say more)
2 – LHR T5 (spacious, easy to navigate, good range of shops)
3 – CPH (lots of shops, plenty of seats and good connections to Copenhagen and southern Sweden)
4 – ZRH (lots of shops and all duty free! and public transport is second to none getting from all over Switzerland to this airport)
5 – HKG (only like this airport for the views, dont like the T design teminals much)
My Worst:
1 – MAD (this airport is a joke, and invovles one hell of a walk to the metro station)
2 – LTN (on two previous occassions had to queue 45 mins to clear passport control)
3 – AMS (its too big)
4 – LHR (not enough seats at peak times, some terminals feel crampt)
5 – PER (not enough shops)
I wonder if UA will be changing the UA223 flight code like BA did with the BA223 flights!
Nice report..that would’ve been greatly enhanced by a pictorial
Gave it a bash Steve!
Only got pics from way back as I have no idea where my sony camera is, so these are off my canon

Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.
Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid,
Than to drink water and be full of sh*t
Couldnt agree more!
According to a local paper the southend airport expansion seems likely to be approved

Very interesting strategy, hope it works out for them, but will the shop be open to passengers in all classes to browse or just premium classes (hence the need for the trolleys for economy class) I hope not on that point though
As for overall comfort I think CX is OK, I suffered EVA once – never again is all I can say! I’m hoping to use Singapore Airlines next time as that will be an interesting comparison with CX.
SQ is a far more superior product compared to CX i personally think
If you do fly SQ in economy class and get a chance to sample the A380, get seats on the upper deck as it is nicer (and quieter) upstairs
gone through TLS, but not recently,
What can I say bog standard regionaal airport, but the main thing is across the other side of the runway is airbus widebody factory, and it makes for intersting viewing.
Facilities I cant comment on as it was such a long time ago I went through this airport, but like I said you will see lots of different airliners on the other side of the runway
So how does that work when you need to fly a route not operated by a ‘proper’ airline?
Paul
Thankfully, the destinations I fly to are usually near major population centres, which means ‘proper’ airlines fly to them.
I am not a fan of low cost airlines, as most of them dont assign seats, and I just cant face the mad scramble for seats, all the small print, and baggage restrictions, a ‘proper airline’ I use allows me to take a carry on bag and another item, which is usually my laptop, and I know of 1 low cost airline would force me to cram the laptop into my bag. The main reason for me using ‘proper airlines’ is that they are professional towards customers and when a delay occurs, information is given out to passengers, okay some can be lacking detail, but at least they take time to tell passengers, and not see them as the problem
Thanks for that!
I am sure the UAE want to get rid of Emirates by controlling then into Etihad.
So mergers again in the Gulf. Interesting gamble. 😀 Qatar Airways is next I am affraid.
and hopefully get rid of the 10 abrest economy seating on EK 777’s and replace it with 9 abrest economy seating
I am a big fan of technology, and anything that speeds up passenger processing, I think is a must especially in busy airports, I last used self service check in on BA, but was travelling domestic, with no baggage and the system seemed, to work fine, however, when I flying with hold baggage I still prefer someone to tag it for me, and thus still use the good old fashioned check-in for this. They are great for business passengers i think, but for leisure travellers, I think the jury is still out on this one.
