    Rebecca,

The gauge fitted later is a TACAN indicator and RATOG is Rocket Assisted Take Off Gear.

Strange this one should re-surrect now – look what popped up on PPrune last week

    http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=279464

Hummm, thanx for that. Very interesting read, although the member there ‘Tim McLelland’ is under the impression that only Vulcan B.1’s had RATOG as an option.

In fact, it was the later ‘big-wing’ B.1A modded aircraft and the initial run of B.2’s. As the majority of (all ?) Vulcan’s retained their instrument panels throughout their lives, if you get the chance to ever inspect a B.2 center panel, you should see where the RATOG switch hole was, although the introduction of 300 series engines must have negated this, so in theory those aircraft never had RATOG fitted…?

Perhaps the two new forthcoming Vulcan books may shed some light ?

Does anyone know what happened to the static example which used to be at the D-Day Museum in Shoreham? I’m sure it was sold at auction following the Museum’s closure but where did it end up?

    TT

    Ben,

Current edition of ‘Wrecks & Relics’ puts it in storage at Sopley Camp which is near Hurn.

….The aircraft has had very little exposure outside the former Yugoslavia, the aircraft its self has a standard eastern block build, however it has many american parts including the supercharged engine built by Lycoming.

    Nick,

Well after great thought I sold it to fund another project, but it went way under what I wanted so its a bargain, I was offed that price just for the seat but there ya go.

    49 watchers, only 3 bidders.
I would of put a reserve on it and if it sold it sold.

The new project is still missing the cash so I will be flogging lots more very soon.

    Colin,

I’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks for your hospitality today, and to appeal to the membership in general for any Gnat parts they may know of that would help ‘XM692’ please ?

    Cheers…….. 😀

With the release of Harrier/Tornado and soon Jaguar cockpits there is and will be a big demand for mk9,10 seats you can easily expect four figures for a good one.

    Yes indeed.
