    US principal CSAR helicopter

    MH-60G Pave Hawk
The Pave Hawk is a twin-engine medium-lift helicopter operated by the Air Force Special Operations Command, a component of the U.S. Special Operations Command. The MH-60G’s primary wartime missions are infiltration, exfiltration and resupply of special operations forces in day, night or marginal weather conditions. Other missions include combat search and rescue. During Desert Storm, Pave Hawks provided combat recovery for coalition air forces in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Persian Gulf. They also provided emergency evacuation coverage for U.S. Navy sea, air and land (SEAL) teams penetrating the Kuwait coas t before the invasion.

The MH-60G is equipped with an all-weather radar which enables the crew to avoid inclement weather. To extend their range, Pave Hawks are equipped with a retractable in-flight refueling probe and internal auxiliary fuel tanks. Pave Hawks are equipped with a rescue hoist with a 200-foot (60.7 meters) cable and 600-pound (270 kilograms) lift capacity. All MH-60G’s have an automatic flight control system to stabilize the aircraft in typical flight altitudes. They also have instrumentation and engine and rotor blade anti-ice systems for all-weather operation. The non-retractable landing gear consists of two main landing gears and a tail wheel. Aft sliding doors on each side of the troop and cargo compartment allow rapid loading and unloading. External loads can be carried on an 8,000-pound (3,600 kilograms) capacity cargo hook. Pave Hawks are equipped with folding rotor blades and a tail stabilator for shipboard operations and to ease air transportability.

MH-60K is the standard special operations version of the Black Hawk. It is capable of providing long-range airlifts far into hostile territory in adverse weather conditions. Modifications include two removable 230 gallon external fuel tanks, two .50 cal. machine guns, an air-to-air refueling probe, and an external hoist. The MH-60K can also be armed with two M134 7.62mm “miniguns”. A new avionics suite includes interactive Multi-Function Displays (MFDs), Forward-Looking Infrared (FLIR), digital map generator, and terrain avoidance/terrain following multi-mode radar. Survivability equipment includes radar and missile warning systems and IR jammers. The MH-60K has full shipboard operability. It is powered by two General Electric T700-GE-701C 1843 shp turboshaft engines.

The older MH-60L can be adapted to the attack mission by attaching dual weapons pylons to both sides of the fuselage. Pylon mounting cannon, rockets, or missiles can be supplemented by door or port mounting guns or launchers, limited mainly by the range, duration, cargo, or troops required to complete the mission. The helicopter’s mission is insertion and extraction of special operations troops. Survivability equipment includes radar and missile warning systems and IR jammers. The MH-60L is powered by two General Electric T700-GE-701C 1843 shp turboshaft engines.

Portugal Air Force will use 2 EH-101,when deliverd, to CSAR, these will be armed with machines guns in the doors and in the rear ramp and with in-fligth refueling capacities.
Now Portugal doesen’t have any helicopter prepared for CSAR, we use Pumas for SAR and Alouette III for utilities dutys.
Inside Portuguese Air Force we have the Policia Aérea,(police of the air force), and they have a special force of about 20 mens that are specialised in CSAR operations.

The EH-101 CSAR will be like this one, but with a diferent camo:

Early days yet, but any info on what kind of avionics for the CSAR version especially?

    Thanks,

I dont have any more pics, the heli is still “very young”. The oficial(Portuguese Air Force) information about the EH-101 camo is that its going to be the same as the existing Pumas.
I dont have info about the kind of avionics for the CSAR helis, but I have some info about other equipment:

MSS 5000 on helicopters for Portugal

Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) has signed a contract with Agusta
S.p.A, Italy for two MSS 5000 maritime surveillance systems for
installation on EH101 helicopters for the Portuguese Air Force.

The helicopters will be used for fishing activity observations in
connection with the Portuguese SIFICAP programme, which has been
designed for controlling and protecting the largest national waters
of the European Union, including the waters within the 200-mile zones
    surrounding Madeira and the Azores.

The systems on the helicopters will also be able to cooperate with
the existing maritime surveillance systems from Swedish Space
Corporation that the Portuguese Air Force is already using on five of
    their fixed-wing aircraft.

The system for the Portuguese Air Force EH 101 is a helicopter
version of the MSS 5000, the new generation SSC Maritime Surveillance
System. The MSS 5000 system is primarily designed to give the
operating organisation an effective overview of sea surface
activities for a number of sea surveillance tasks such as Exclusive
Economic Zone monitoring, fishery control and search-and-rescue in
addition to the pollution control and environmental protection tasks
that were the original applications for the SSC system.

Portugal and Denmark have chosen the RTM322 for their EH101
    helicopters.

The RTM322 is produced by Rolls-Royce Turbomeca, a joint venture
between Rolls-Royce and Turbomeca. Approximately 1,100 RTM322 engines
have been ordered for EH101, Apache AH Mk1 and NH90 helicopters.
Since 2001, the RTM322 has won every competition that it has entered:
it now powers over 75 per cent of all EH101 helicopters ordered and
has been selected by over 85 per cent of NH90 customers. The RTM322
is also being offered for a number of additional applications,
including the AgustaWestland/Lockheed Martin US101, the Sikorsky S-92
and the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk family.

The RTM322 is the only engine qualified for use on the EH101 with a
Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) system. The
unmatched ease of operation and fault diagnosis features of the
FADEC, coupled with the engine’s operationally proven reliability and
maintainability in Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service, have
enhanced its reputation as the most effective engine for the EH101.

FLIR Thermal Imaging Systems For Danish And Portuguese AFs
    )

PORTLAND, Ore. — FLIR Systems, Inc. announced today that it has
been awarded a contract from Agusta SpA valued at more than $10
million to supply its Star SAFIRE IITM multi-sensor airborne thermal
imaging system to the Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) and the
Portuguese Air Force (PAF) for their fleet of EH101 helicopters.

The contract is for 20 systems to be delivered over a two-year
period beginning February 2003, to coincide with simultaneous
production of EH101 helicopters at Agusta’s facilities in Italy and
Westland, England. The contract also includes an option for delivery
of additional systems over the next few years.

Both the RDAF and PAF will use the Star SAFIRE II for Search and
Rescue missions. Additionally, the PAF will leverage the system to
protect fishing territory, while the RDAF expects to use it in
tactical troop transportation. Delivery of these systems builds on
the established relationship between FLIR Systems and both the PAF
and RDAF, the latter having been a user of FLIR’s SAFIRE airborne
thermal imaging system since its introduction in the early 1990’s.

Particular to the contract is the attention given to the
placement and design of system controls to accommodate the stringent
operational requirements of the RDAF and PAF, as well as the overall
design philosophy of the EH101 ergonomics. The Star SAFIRE II
controls will be integrated into Agusta’s custom operator’s console
on the EH101, allowing ease of control for the rear cabin operator.
Selected aircraft will be equipped with multi-station controls. FLIR
Systems will supply specially designed, ergonomic hand-controllers to
be embedded into the operator’s console and cockpit to facilitate
    exchange between crew members.

The EH-101 will cost about 25 milion euros each, wich means that its a deal of about 250 milion euros, the two fishiries protection Eh-101 will be paid by European Community funds.
