here’s a link to another post i made in the bucker forum with pics

as JDK said the pilot explained me that the new reg is due to weight issues, but I wonder what the details are (any german friend can help?).

Lufthansa made a specific webpage where they also publish the calendar of flights available for booking, the yummiest one being the visit to Flying Legends! 😀

    Cheers!

well, an airplane has a more complex structure than a barrel, so u might need more than one shot, but still it’s an impressive hit!
While I was watching it I thought “wait a minute, they’re using a war weapon without permission???” then I realised that the closest police station in Groenland was kinda far, and no neighbour would have complained anyways 😉
I would have tried the .50 cals too eheehheh :dev2:

    lol absolutely!!! 😀

the blast of the shell and the effect are impressive! U really wanted to be on the right side of that thing when it shot! Most impressive is actually that the cannon was still serviceable! Talking about rugged american planes!

i was very intrigued by the Rheintochter since i saw it in Cosford! It’s an incredible early SAM system with a two stages radio controlled rocket. The wingtips of the main stage had flares installed so that the launch director could see the rocket better and direct it to the target. There are other missiles like the Enzian, u can find a lot of info on the Internet or if u happen to make a quick hop to Cosford 😉 what’s really interesting is how rudimental the materials used were!! Iron, wood and similar for a radio controlled rockets!

..anybody here thinks that apart for the “improper handling”, it’s actually insane that he managed to get himself an APU??? Is it legal to get APUs in UK? The poor sod here seems to use it just as a garage cleaner, but there are many more potentially dangerous applications for it. Not to mention that if the thing blows up it’s like a bomb…

A relatively minor point, considering the flak that’s flying around about this aircraft, but I didn’t know that swastikas were banned in Italy too.

I suppose it’s understandable when you think about it, but I hadn’t…

oh yes, even the symbols related to fascism are officially forbidden here… a friend of mine who took an old F.L.3 trainer back to the sky and wanted to paint it with Regia Aeronautica colors had to go to the museum and make sure nobody would have bothered him if he had the original insignas on.. this kinda stuff is really annoyin on the long run..

that’s quite interesting, as the place it comes from has nothing to do with Gipsy engines!! Are you sure it wasnt used on other engines? I’ll prolly be able to get me A LOT of these spark plugs..

I actually said there are several warbirds that sport sucky paintschemes…
but the sponsorship is another thing, without which u wouldnt have no plane and no flying, so I’d rather swallow a shell symbol on a plane if it’s the price to pay to have it flyin… as per swastikas, they’re forbidden in several countries (like italy and germany), that’s why they are often omitted. Another (sadly) good reason to avoid swastikas is ppl ignorance, which always reaches tragicomic levels: some time ago i was helping a friend of mine on a Fokker Dr.I paintjob, we were doing it with the hangar doors opened. A family passes by and the wife asks us why we’re painting swastikas on the plane pointing her finger at the balkankreutz on the fuselage…
