The Sea Fury panel was originally restored non-standard, and I’m just trying to update it without taking the plane down for the entire season. While we’re on the subject thought I see nothing wrong with modern avionics in any warbird. Most B-17s and the CAF B-29 have modern panels, or variations on them. Modern navigations and communications equipment is a smart move to help safely operate these aircraft over long distances.

The T-6 panel is much more authentic, and still has the old style AI and gyro compass. It has a small GPS installed, as well as modern comm/nav radios, but they’re pretty unobtrusive. It also has the original gun sight.

The Sea Fury will go through a major refit, when the panel will probably go back to a much closer version of the original, but with modern radios. I just don’t want to take her down for a year or two to do it right now.

    Here’s a shot of the T-6 panel

This is great! Of course there’s no point in losing a season for some “make-up” rework, but if yr intention is to work on her later on it’s wonderful! I too think that u must use modern equipment too, there’s no point in flying a plane like that without at least a VOR/DME!! It’s just a matter of hiding the stuff properly, and the look of the T-6 it’s just perfect! We have a switchbox that runs almost all over the right side and we’re thinking about removing the old suff in there, which despite being wonderful is now useless, and hiding there a GPS, the VHF and then some extra space for personal items. We still have the map box which is installed under the seats, but the feature I’m looking forward to test is the relief tube!! “bio-dumping” is gonna be fun, expecially buzzing over flightlines! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I guess there’s no way to get back to the original layout uh?
Never liked the modern layouts, expecially the white cockpits, but it’s just a matter of tastes..
Anyway under a technical point of view it’s all u might need in a plane! Any chance to see the rest of the cockpit and the one of the T-6 too please? πŸ™‚

    Cheers!

I think all the big planes (military and civil) have at least one jumpseat in the cockpit, they’re even used for training purposes and of course are fully equipped for emergency: I had a ride in a B737-400 on the jumpseat from pushback to shutoff and apart for not being really confortable because of my height (and ar$e :D), it has a 5 points seatbelt and full face oxygen mask. What is for sure is that it’s an interesting point of view! πŸ™‚

Well the thing that got me was that it is very big with not a lot of power…

I’m assuming you mean that chap’s idea of the aircraft rather than the real A-10 being screwed up…

    Wonder if he’ll put a air-rifle inplace of the Vulcan cannon…. πŸ˜€

    TNZ

yeah, it sounds like the result of a sleepless night caused by bad digestion of a scale RC modeler.. Somebody must help this chap wasting his money in a more intelligent way…

I’m surprised nobody spotted that the pilot of ‘Little Demon’ appears to be giving his twin brother a ride πŸ˜‰

Indeed, that was scary at first!! πŸ˜€

..i promised myself not to post here, but come on chaps, that A-10 is too screwed up to be considered the product of a sane mind.. I’m still shivering after having read about the propulsion system..

    ANC: THE MANIFESTO
    1. Be proud to be an Aviation Nerd.
    2. Anoraks keep you warm and snug. They’re lovely.
    3. Even non-Nerds have ‘G-INFO’ saved as a ‘Favourite’.
    4. Memorising infinitesimally large amounts of aircraft data is spiritually enhancing.
    5. Repeating infinitesimally large amounts of aircraft data to your non-aviating mates is excessively nerdy. This is compulsory.
    6. Picking faults in perfectly good aircraft, flying displays, films, restorations etc when you have insufficient knowledge to pass comment is a skill to be cultivated at all times.
    7. Insult helicopters. Don’t ever let anyone know you think they’re fab.
    8. Wear hi-viz jackets. It means your safe and official.
    9. Be anonymous on forums. It’s really cool!

    Janie, u r to good to be real!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
The only remark I have to make is about the #8 point: the jackets must be covered with pins and patches!
Now if some good lad would paint the logo too that would be great! Needless to say a pair of nerdish ray-bans with white tape in the middle and small wings would rock! πŸ˜€
