Duxford Friday 28th September:
Very little to report this morning, apart from the latest stage of Varsity disassembly:
Hangar 5 is filling up rapidly with ‘large objects’, a submarine was noted leaving the M11 as I left. The Halifax and Lancaster noses have been lined up for viewing together with the Wellington turret:

Duxford Wednesday 26th September:
Another great holiday snap from MH434, which is taking Paul Bonhomme to Malta. This was taken just before departure from Figari in Corsica yesterday, with thanks again to JK:
The dismantling of Varsity T.1 G-BEDV / WJ945 has restarted, the big task of detaching the wings means no visible change at the moment:
AAC.1/Ju52 6316/4V+GH remains outside, she is reported to be staying for a few months yet:
It’s not all bad news for the Duxford disposals. The new owner of MS.502 EI-AUY/CF+HF arrived this morning to take possession of his new hairyplane. He was happy to reveal the great news that she will be rebuilt to flying condition in Germany, so there’s a chance we might see her back at Duxford in a few years. Pen Pusher got some more exercise during the move from Hangar 5 to Hangar 3:
Meanwhile in Hangar 2, TFC have been clearing some shelves, and the best place for Beaufighter parts is obviously on the aeroplane. Firewalls, engine bearers, fin and other parts have been added:
The TFC Hellcat remains in deep maintenance, the ailerons are now detached and stripped ready for new fabric:

Duxford Tuesday 25th September:
Two more ‘large objects’ arrived from South Lambeth this afternoon, the nose sections of the Halifax and Lancaster:
First to be unloaded was the nose of Lancaster I DV372 ‘Old Fred’. Built at Trafford Park, it survived 49 sorties with 467 Sq (RAAF):
Halifax A.VII PN323 was for many years the only surviving Halifax, scrapped at Radlett after trials in 1961. Stockport built, it is one of the many items passed to the IWM from the Skyfame collection:

Duxford Saturday 22nd September:
A quick visit this morning saw the RE8 being prepared for the return to Old Warden. Pilot Mr Gene DeMarco, Gunner Miss Clare Tector, Crewchief Mr Rob Millinship. Patrolling overhead ready to escort were the BE2 and Fokker Dr1 from Sywell:
Many thanks to JK for his help.
Duxford Friday 21st September:
The Mil 24D Hind departed this afternoon, otherwise nothing much to report apart from further dismantling of the Varsity. The airframe appears in excellent condition considering the many years of outside storage:
Outside Hangar 3, there were signs that the new playground is attracting the wrong sort of people:
