Duxford Friday 17th August:
I was only able to cover some early arrivals and late departures today, but I’m sure there will be plenty of American Air Day coverage elsewhere.

Old Warden Friday 17th August:
I arrived just in time this morning, with the Albatros complete and on the way into Hangar 3. A splendid sight in the sunshine. Hopefully some earlier roll-out shots will be on their way shortly…

Thanks for the Olympia information.
The recent vintage glider displays at Old Warden have added a lot to each event.
What’s next?
Hi, lovely shots. What sort of settings do you use?
Thanks for comments.
I’m a lazy photographer, I generally use shutter priority (1/250 as default depending on aircraft speed and need for prop blur) and let the camera work out the rest. If there’s time I may compensate exposure by a stop or two, but my golden rule is simple. Take enough pictures and by the law of averages one or two will be keepers. I shot 500+ yesterday and will keep 46.
I don’t use photoshop, but often use Windows to crop pictures. Most flying shots will benefit from careful use of cropping and levelling, and sometimes you can give ordinary shots something extra.
This photo looked nothing special until mega-cropped and tilted 45 degrees:
Wot…??!!
No pics of the Spitfire…???
Duxford Thursday 26th July:
More Spitfires have arrived and are positioned by the new Control Tower. Clearly a later mark than the first pair, these seem to be the long range escort version, with twin fuselages like the F-82. The elliptical wing has been retained, and they could be two-seaters (height restrictions may apply).
I’m surprised that Mark 12 has been silent on this remarkable project….
Duxford Tuesday 24th July:
Ferocious Frankie departed to the Weston-Super-Mare airshow, in company with the ARCo Spitfire Tr.9:
Meanwhile, it was the turn of the Grace Spitfire Tr.9 G-LFIX/ML407 to pose in the sunshine:
