Duxford Sunday 22nd July:
First sighting today of the new Classic Wings Tiger Moth:
DE974 is G-ANZZ, out of use since 1969. Famous as ‘The Archbishop’, one of the Tiger Club’s aerobatic modified Tigers, it has the distinction of an inverted Channel crossing. Seen here many years ago:
Another beautiful biplane today. Visiting from Antwerp was Stearman N1035M:
The Stearman was in company with Belgian based Stampe G-AIYG:
Buchon G-AWHE posed in the sunshine before a departure North:
The grass at Duxford is very springy at the moment:
And of course, Spitfire Tr.9 G-ILDA/SM520 spent a few hours in the circuit:
Duxford Friday 20th July:
A very gray morning saw the Plane Sailing Catalina depart to Sunderland for Airshow duty:
Also departing was the North Weald based Skyraider:
Otherwise activity was confined to various Spitfire migrations:
Two early model Spitfires were noted parked next to the new Control Tower. With open cockpits and non-standard undercarriage, I’m not sure which Mark they are.
Hopefully the man on the bus will add some of his images from today:
Since V9312 saw Squadron service (612Sq ,225Sq, 4Sq) before target-towing duty in Canada, research will probably allow authentic period marks.
The Lysander has had a huge amount of work during its time in the workshops. There’s a detailed history of the aircraft and its current status at:
Duxford Tuesday July 17th:

The TFC Wildcat prop is removed and dismantled:
The Hellcat also showing work in depth:
The Hind in Hangar 5 has the rear fuselage removed, work continues to strip parts. The internal systems look complete and in excellent condition:
The F-86 has tail (EDIT: But not engine) refitted:
The DAS BAC 111 is being prepared for a repaint:
Finally, a wing from the Firefly is returned to Hangar 3:
I notice this thread has passed a quarter of a million views.
Thanks to all for your contributions and continued interest.
If only I could charge 10p a time…..

Provost T.1 G-MOOS/XF690 paid a quick visit this afternoon.
Duxford Friday July 13th:
The TFC F6F-5K Hellcat G-BTCC / 40467 has moved just a short distance within Hangar 2, allowing a good view as she is returned to airworthy status:
I think they saw me coming:
Nord 1002 G-ATBG / NJ+C11 was given a compass swing this morning:
Spitfire BM597 was off to another South coast weekend:
There’s something about Skyraiders staying on after Legends. At least this beauty has the same wingspan as before:
For those eager to have a climb on a Lancaster, great progress in the Duxford Themed Activity Zone:
