Duxford Wednesday July 11th:
Work continues in Hangar 2 on the TFC Wildcat:
The Wildcat’s move allows a better view of the Gladiator:
Some threatening weather suggested little activity today:
In Hangar 5, the dismantling of Hind 96+21 is now gathering pace:
The rotor head and gearbox assembly ready for removal:

Duxford Friday 6th July:
A quick look in at Duxford this morning found the Skyraider and German Spitfire still waiting to go home:
An exposed Wildcat suggests her return to flight is progressing:
Arriving this morning by road was a dismantled Cub. The ‘Carbon Cub SS’ logo on the fin suggests it is one of the new build light and high performance updates of the Classic Piper design:
Work is continuing on the new Activity Zone, and the ‘Lancaster’ fuselage is now in the assembly stage. With today’s weather, they should be building an Ark instead:
Edit: The more I look at the structure, the more it looks like Stalag Luft 99…
The visiting ‘Mustang’ was a Titan T-51 G-TSIM, coded CY-G
On saturday, maybe half an hour before the flying started, I watched a silver twin-engined plane with double rudders land and park on the far side of the field.
I first figured it might be a Beech 18, but about a quarter of an hour later, Bernard Chabbert was introduced to the audience, so now I think it may have been him with his Lockheed.
Anybody observed this as well?
The aircraft concerned was the based Beech 18 G-BKGL / 1164
Duxford Monday July 2nd:
As if to highlight the weekend’s brilliance, today saw a return to British Summer Time. A few visitors extended their stay at Duxford, including the Old Warden based Lysander and Storch:
Gloomy weather didn’t prevent the Yak 9 and Norwegian Dakota’s return home:
Staggerwing N295BS will soon be on her way home after some prop damage yesterday:
The Red Bull P-38 left around 1130 with a photo rendezvous en route:
The German Spitfire HF.VIIIC D-FEUR / MT928 may be a day or two from departure:
Spitfire I G-CGUK / X4650 is in no hurry to return to Biggin Hill, with some checks in progress on this low-time restoration. Cockpit door is signed by Sgt Squire, who bailed out from the same cockpit on December 28th 1940:
Finaly, the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 demo team visited Duxford today. Defence cuts must be hitting the team hard:
Duxford Sunday July 1st:
After eight days in a row at Duxford, I’m going to keep it simple.
Everyone attending Legends 2012 owes a huge thankyou to TFC for presenting a wonderful event in difficult times. Credit belongs to the long suffering organisers, skilled pilots, miracle working engineers, hundreds of volunteers and the regular IWM staff. All made possible by the generosity of one man.
Thankyou Mr Grey, you even arranged decent weather. Looking forward to Flying Legends 2013…..
Duxford Tuesday June 26th:
With dull weather today and a lot more photographers taking up residence on the corner, I’ll keep things brief:
Sorties today from TFC Bearcat (twice), Spitfire IA AR213 (twice), P-51 Miss Velma, S-38B N28V, Buchon Yellow 10 and a visiting Harvard D-****. Plus arrival of the Red Bull P-38 N25Y.
Bad news for fans of Terence. He’s very sick and will probably miss Legends this year.
