Duxford Wednesday May 16th:
The sight of Snafu on the grass this morning promised an interesting day:
Just after 1200, Stu Goldspink prepared for the third flight of the P-47G:
A 30 minute sortie, and back on the ground:
Back to the hangar, there were adjustments to make:
Gear retraction checks:
Quickly back outside:
Start up, this time with Pete Kynsey in command:
Traffic delays:
Airborne:
He’s back, and this time he means business:
Tight turn in for a fly-by:
Back on final:
The men of the hour: TFC’s Stuart Goldspink and Peter Kynsey:
Many congratulations to all at TFC.

Duxford Sunday May 13th:
Very quiet again, nothing like the good old days.
Nothing out of the ordinary:
Same old line-up:
A different angle on a familiar place:
No changes to be seen:
More of the same:
Catalina back from a few days in Norway:
The TFC Harvard busy today:
Spitfire LF.Vb BM597 provided two spectacular displays:
Another visiting Chipmunk:
A check on the B-17 in the American Air Museum, wing sections are being joined together, the fuselage should move in soon:
A chance to see the B-29 tail gun position exposed:
The B-52 also has the tail guns moved:
To complete the set, a look at the B-24 tail guns:
For comparison, the B-17 rear guns:
Hangar 2, and the TFC P-40F again:
Finally, regular visitors may have noticed a new bench near the Hangar base:
On inspection, I found it had been recently installed to the memory of Bob Evans, a Duxford volunteer for over 20 years.
I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing him, but enquiries revealed that he was a well liked and very skilled worker who put in a lot of work on the Hunter, Hurricane, P-47, Swordfish, Bolingbroke and many other projects. Volunteers have played an important part in creating Duxford, and it is fitting that such reminders are in place.
Many thanks to MM and DM for their generosity today.
