Duxford Sunday March 11th:
A busy day in the sunshine today, but activity was confined to smaller types ( mostly yellow for some reason ):
I’ll leave events at TFC for more detailed coverage from others, so I close with another shot of Vampire T.11 WZ590 waiting for her day in the spotlight on Tuesday:

Thanks for the photos Brian. I wasn’t hiding, just having a day off.
The Navion is a recent rebuild and flies from Earl’s Colne. I think it needs black and white checks on the nose…..

I am told the Dolphin will be unveiled at Hendon on Friday March 16th, although it may be a private event and subject to change.
A new book on the Dolphin, featuring the restoration of C3988 will shortly be available from Cross And Cockade at:

Duxford Friday March 9th:
Many thanks to Duxman for posting pictures from yesterday, not bad for a temporarily one-armed photographer. As shown by Bob, we were entertained at lunchtime by the USAF. MC-130P 65-0991 is from 67th SOS at Mildenhall and is quite a veteran, delivered July 1966 ( They were still building Lightnings then):
Otherwise not much to report by lunchtime. TFC are preparing for Sunday’s Friends event (The caviar and champagne should arrive tomorrow):
A hangar shuffle was completed yesterday, the Hawk 75 taking centre stage at the moment:
This Harvard, G-BUKY / 52-8543 is a visitor, but parked with the based aircraft, so may be here for a while:
Finally, some more detail shots of the Vampire T.11:

Duxford Wednesday March 7th:
I dropped in to Hangar 4 this morning to assure XV474 that she was still wanted. Her wingtips have been folded in the last couple of days, either a defensive posture or to make room for a certain orange aircraft:
With seats and canopy fitted, the Vampire is nearly ready for the spotlight:
Guns are installed:
The feed mechanisms are visible, right next to the fuel system:
The Catalina in Hangar 2 looking high and dry during undercarriage work:
The Wildcat is now fully ‘pimped’:
A centre-line drop tank was seen next to ‘SNAFU’:
Now fitted, the aircraft should be able to reach an airshow in Berlin unescorted:
By comparison, the AAM P-47 drop tank:
