Duxford Wednesday August 17th:
Today’s entertainment started with a TFC hangar shuffle, which brought the Corsair G-FGID / KD345 outside for a change:
Out for a practice was the Hawk 75:
A regular check on B-17 progress in Hangar 5 showed work continuing on the fin:
The centre sections show how big this project is:
Smaller parts cleaned and labelled:
The Fury was lacking some very important parts:
But was later fully intact and out for an engine run, the focus was on the radio equipment.
Another recent addition to the UK register is G-TPWX, a Gomhouria (ie Bu181 Bestmann) ex D-EECW. Registered 10-8-11, it has exemption to fly as Luftwaffe ‘TP+WX’. Probably being repainted somewhere at the moment, there is a photo of a visit to Turweston recently at:

Thanks to Chris for the info.
Duxford Monday August 15th:
Last week was very quiet at Duxford, but hopefully there will be more to report shortly. Today started well with a visit from Coventry by the immaculate Vampire T.55 G-HELV / XJ771. It has been inactive for a while, but flew two very graceful practice displays during its stay:
Duxford Monday August 8th:
Very little activity at Duxford this morning. Apart from the usual ARCo hangar swapping, only the Beech 18 was on the move (looking good without cowlings):
Some more radial detail on Snafu:
Another round engine, one of four being conserved for ‘Mary Alice’:
More work on the B-17 wing centre-sections (with the chin turret outer shell in foreground):
Thanks to Bomberflight for access. Don’t forget to monitor his detailed B-17 thread (lots of internal photos added recently) at:

Meanwhile, Sally B looking timeless:
The Corsair carries the markings worn by 1850 Sq of the Fleet Air Arm aboard HMS Vengeance during the Pacific campaign. Allied aircraft deleted the red from the roundels to avoid confusion with Japanese aircraft.
Duxford Friday August 5th:
A very quiet day today, with only the departure of the Catalina turning any heads. So, instead of any action shots, here’s an update on some current projects:
The TFC Corsair is getting a lot of attention as it progresses back to airworthiness:
The P-47 also progresses, but the size of the project is apparent when all the access panels are removed:
Work on the B-17 continues in Hangar 5. The two inboard wing sections are secured for paint stripping and inspection:
The Vampire T.11 restoration is now concentrated on the wings:
Elsewhere, Buchon G-AWHE sat in the sunshine during a hangar shuffle:
Not mentioned before, the based Bulldog G-CBAB / XX543 has been remarked as ‘U’ of East Midlands UAS:
Another significant restoration project is well under way, although it may not please the purists. Another ‘data plate’ project using few original parts, a small team has started the rebuild of one of Duxfords most controversial attractions. No word on the final colour scheme yet, but it will be finished as an 80-100 seater. I mean, of course, the notorious Cafe/Restaurant , which should be back in use in about ten days (No information is available regarding the preservation of the chip fat, which is rumoured to have been in use since 1975).
Well done Flanker Man!
I must have been too fixated on the rudder to notice the fin…

Duxford:Saturday 30th July:
Some early arrivals for tomorrow’s Sally B Day included the C-47A of Aces High:
The Beech D17S / YC-43A from The Duke Of Brabant’s Air Force:
Otherwise, another De Havilland day, with Classic Wings very busy (except when lined up over the lunch break):
A visiting Tiger Moth, G-ANMY / DE470, easily confused with the based G-APAO / R4922:
The DH.60G Moth is still present from before the May Airshow:
The Beaver G-DHCZ also active today:
The wings are from MS.505 G-BPHZ, marked TA+RC. Not sure where the fuselage is hiding.
