    Duxford Friday July 29th:

Some extra embellishment observed on the P-40F. What do you call nose art when it is on the rudder? I just hope that she is facing the right way for the purists:

Some of you may have seen a few photos of P9374 which I posted on the ‘Duxford, Again…’ thread. I have had a lot of requests to see more, so I have put all 88 pics in one Flickr set. There is some repetition, and the quality is uneven, but I understand some people just can’t get enough Spitfire!
I will add to the set whenever I am lucky enough to see her break cover again.

    Check Set ‘P9374’ at:

Here’s a couple more shots from Thursday of the Spitfire I. You may be interested to hear that the engine note is a bit different to the later Merlin sound. I can’t wait to see and hear it airborne.

I’ll leave coverage of today’s show to the experts on the Airshow pages, but I would like to record the first flight in the UK by the TFC P-40F VH-PIV, pilot Steve Hinton. Well done to the team who worked for five long days to bring us this wonderful sight:

Several well meaning people have been sending me pictures of the P-38 which I missed. Now that I have calmed down a little, here is a great photo from Fred Taylor (thanks). I doubt there will be a better image this week:
