At one stage, Herr Spink tried to steal the limelight:

    300:G-AWHE

But to avoid the Director’s wrath, he very cleverly taxied past in monochrome (a neat trick):

    Monday 20th June.

After a few days absence, some notable work on two of the Duxford projects:

B-17G F-BDRS no longer ‘Mary Alice’, paint stripping of fuselage nearly complete:

For highly detailed coverage of the B-17G project (370 photos so far) see :

Work continues on the TFC P-47, although Legends may interrupt the schedule:

    292:G-CDVX / 225068

Today’s flying highlight was a vigorous routine from Herr Spink:

    291:G-BWUE

More tomorrow, although some filming may make flightline visibility restricted.

Thanks to Bomberflight for permission to share this photo of the TFC crew at this morning’s roll-out. I am sure they have been monitoring the reaction to the results of their hard work. Thanks to all (and to Stephen Grey for sharing with us)

I propose that this is the best presented warbird in the UK.

Although even the TFC crew would not claim 100% fidelity to a particular airframe, I think the staggering attention to detail honours not just one pilot, but the whole unit , its personnel and the entire American role in wartime.

Here’s a reminder: the 78th FG part of the AAM wall:

    465 missions
    326 air-to-air claims
    50 aces
    200 combat losses

    100 Killed in action

If anyone missed the F-86 in its Tiger stripes, it is on the line ready for a slot at Cosford tomorrow.

    The Kennet Skyraider looks fantastic.

    Well done to all concerned.

Another example of getting a paint job spot on with “In House ” research.

I am sure your own research will be ‘spot on’

Thanks for comments, I wish the light had been better. The display practice was simply outstanding, can you say who was flying? I am certainly looking forward to a repeat in good weather. These were the best I could manage:

    Wednesday June 8th:

After a few days away, I thought the arrival of two horseboxes would be the only worthwhile update:

    270:HORSEBOX 1
    269:HORSEBOX 2

However, the roll-out of two Spitfires for engine runs means TFC are getting ever closer to full strength:

    271:G-SPIT / MV268
    272:G-SPIT / MV268
    273:G-LFVB EP120
    274:G-LFVB EP120

Buchon ‘Yellow 10’ returned from an extended European sortie (Still without Swastika):

    275:G-BWUE / 10

    Spitfire MH434 returning:

    276:G-ASJV / MH434

And checking as usual on Mary Alice:

A substantial edifice looking rather out of place in a working environment ( and the B-17G fin looks odd as well):

    277:F-BDRS / 231983

A close-up of the spectacular rear end ( the B-17 that is):
