Monday 20th June.
After a few days absence, some notable work on two of the Duxford projects:
B-17G F-BDRS no longer ‘Mary Alice’, paint stripping of fuselage nearly complete:
For highly detailed coverage of the B-17G project (370 photos so far) see :

Chipmunk G-BCOU / WK522 looking good with wings and main gear fitted:
Work continues on the TFC P-47, although Legends may interrupt the schedule:
Today’s flying highlight was a vigorous routine from Herr Spink:
More tomorrow, although some filming may make flightline visibility restricted.
I propose that this is the best presented warbird in the UK.
Although even the TFC crew would not claim 100% fidelity to a particular airframe, I think the staggering attention to detail honours not just one pilot, but the whole unit , its personnel and the entire American role in wartime.
Here’s a reminder: the 78th FG part of the AAM wall:
465 missions
326 air-to-air claims
50 aces
200 combat losses
100 Killed in action
Wednesday June 8th:
After a few days away, I thought the arrival of two horseboxes would be the only worthwhile update:
However, the roll-out of two Spitfires for engine runs means TFC are getting ever closer to full strength:
Buchon ‘Yellow 10’ returned from an extended European sortie (Still without Swastika):
Spitfire MH434 returning:
And checking as usual on Mary Alice:
A substantial edifice looking rather out of place in a working environment ( and the B-17G fin looks odd as well):
A close-up of the spectacular rear end ( the B-17 that is):
