Duxford Tuesday 4th July (Part 1):

Berlin Express left Wick at 0835 and appeared at Duxford just after 1100, ( a slight delay due to some weather avoiding and probably a little sightseeing). Ferry pilot for the long trip from Texas, was Lee Lauderback of Stallion 51. The scale and expense of this undertaking is remarkable and gives us a pair of 357th FG Mustangs for Legends 2017 and hopefully much longer!

‘Frenesi’ stayed indoors today, but is now fully cowled and looks ready to go.
Miss Velma, however, was out for a run. She’ll be performing at Old Warden tomorrow.

Meanwhile, ‘Frenesi’ gained her prop this morning and ventured out for the first engine run. By 1700 the spinner was also fitted:

Spitfire X4650/G-CGUK is now ‘R96’

The ‘wrapped’ Spitfire I being painted is X4650/G-CGUK. It has lost serial and codes, and is being given the black/white underwings.
AR213/G-AIST remains marked as ‘P7308/XR-D’ but has the black/white undersurfaces.
The IWM Spitfire replica (previously X4178) is now R9649/LC.
The ‘Dunkirk’ film gets a UK release on July 21st………

Frenesi’s assembly was well underway by 1000, but some heavy rain brought a rethink. The process continued under cover in Hangar 2:

Duxford Wednesday 21st June:
Yellow 10 is now Black 8 (or is it Red 8?). The weathered look is very convincing indeed, and should be an interesting comparison with the immaculate Frenesi and Berlin Express in 17 days.
The DAS ex Aurigny Trislander G-BEVT arrived at 1000 this morning from Guernsey. She is expected to spend a few days on the Eastern Apron.
It was good to see the return of two Duxford regulars today:
