Duxford Wednesday 13th January:
Today’s sunshine meant lots of activity at Duxford. TFC’s Mustang was out for a run and the Boultbee Spitfire SM520 gave some rides before departing (the UK’s first Spitfire sorties of 2016?). The Cosmic Wind was also out for some exercise, and there was a good selection of visiting aircraft:
Duxford Friday 8th January:
Sorry for a late report, more computer problems.
Pen Pusher has already listed the moves, so I’ll just add a few more pics from yesterday. Work has not resumed on the new hangar, the framework can be seen in the background of pic below.
The T-28 G-TROY returned to the air late afternoon after a few months rest and recuperation.
For anyone visiting over the next few weeks, the Mess restaurant is closed for refurbishment. Joe’s cafe is open all day and there is a temporary coffee bar in Airspace.
Duxford Monday 4th January:
At last we can offer a few pictures from Duxford 2016, although for most of the day it was the weather which was most interesting:
During the afternoon, we were treated to some Wildcat retraction tests, a fascinating sight:
Today’s obligatory hangar shuffle involved Spitfire TD314, returning to Hangar 2:
With regard to the Halifax nose section, it is not an active project at the moment, remaining in the long queue for restoration:
Finally, just one visitor today:

As the time approaches to wind up this year’s Duxford Diary, it is also time to say a few words of thanks. I am sure I can speak for all the regular contributors in expressing our gratitude for the assistance and tolerance shown by staff and volunteers on our frequent visits. We are also very grateful for the positive comments posted my many forumites at this time of year.

The ‘Changing Of The Guard’ at Hangar 4 this afternoon saw TD314 return to ARCo:
The very welcome replacement was Mk.I P9374, not seen in public since her return from auction in London last July. There’s no word of the new owner, but the signs are good for a return to the air next year.

Is the Swedish T-6 still present and what is the current status of the Wildcat? Not been up for a few years but may take a trip up between xmas and New year?

The Swedish Harvard is still present. The Wildcat is not yet an active restoration project, but is on view.
If you are planning a visit, don’t forget the Engineering Open Weekend on Jan 2/3
