Duxford Thursday 1st October:
OV-10 G-BZGL was out for more engine runs today:
TFC were also engine running (with the Hawk 75), and a few of the fleet were out in the sun:
Chipmunk WK522 ‘Thunderbird 5’ exposed:
The conservation area in Airspace is preparing for a series of corporate events. The Eastern apron will be a car park for a while, and the T-33 and Spitfire replica are inside:
Events coming up include the H&H auction on October 13-14 (includes a Sherman tank!) and the Autumn Quilt Festival Oct 30 to Nov 1.
The ‘other’ IWM Spitfire I remains in Hangar 4:

The Shuttleworth Spitfire progresses:
Also in the workshops:
Out in the sunshine:
First arrival for Sunday’s event:
The above Bristol Scout may fly on Sunday (for those lucky enough to have tickets!). Hopefully the weather will permit the final full display from another aircraft with real charisma.
Duxford Saturday 26th September:
Another sunny day, with plenty of interesting visitors. My favourite was this 1961 Bonanza:
Some of the Duxford warbird fleet were away on airshow duty. Ferocious Frankie popped up to Church Fenton, and the HAC Spitfire and Hurricane returned in the warm evening sunshine:
A hot-air balloon passed by, landing to the South:
And finally, just when we thought it was all over, a Mig 15 made a sedate, low-G, high altitude pass:
Duxford Friday 25th September:
It was probably the final AAM ‘photocall’ today, and the best was saved for last. Both B-17 and B-24 were posing in the glorious sunshine outside Airspace for much of the day, while the SR-71A was parked nearby on the Eastern apron. Plans to move all three aircraft up to the AAM were thwarted, and B-17 and SR-71 are back in Airspace for the weekend.
There was plenty of aerial activity as well, with some fantastic flying featuring Ferocious Frankie:
Spitfires flying included TD314:
Heaven.
Latest IWM Tweet:
The B-24 and the B-17 will be moving to the American Air Museum at #IWMDuxford tomorrow. Expected outside AirSpace 10-11am #AAMmoves
Duxford Wednesday 23rd September:
As advertised, Etta Jeanne II was posing nicely in the sunshine this morning:
The P-47 reached cruising altitude today, and the P-51 was nearly there by close of play:
There was plenty of warbird activity today, with Spitfire, Seafire and Buchon active, and the TFC Corsair departed for a French airshow.
Seafire III:
It was good to see Chipmunk WB569 (G-BYSJ) back in the air today after a rebuild at ARCo. A very early production aircraft, it began its RAF career at Cambridge in 1950.
Cambridge 1950 and Duxford 2015:
Did any of the DX snappers see the SR-71 move from Airspace to AAM on Tuesday, they were no photos, so did it happen ? No twittering from IWM yet other than to say the P-51 will move. The sun shining in Peterborough so need to make a move if I am going to DX today. If they are ready to load the SR-71 assume the BUFF is not coming out again.
Thanks for any info.
The SR-71 returned to Airspace after last week’s photoshoot. It will probably move to the AAM out of hours sometime this week.
Duxford Tuesday 22nd September:
Today’s photocall was partly rained off, though the P-47 spent some time outside before returning to the shelter of Hangar 5. The UH-1H, however, made it into the AAM before rain stopped play.
Latest IWM Tweet:
