For anyone not watching the many Vulcan threads, the Duxford ETA on Sunday is 1408 local.
Duxford Wednesday 17th June:
Last April, the Duxford Aviation Society marked their 40th anniversary, and today celebrated the landmark by spotlighting their achievements to invited guests and IWM visitors. Most of the airliner fleet were open for inspection, and naturally most attention was on the Ambassador, officially unveiled this afternoon. The interior is remarkably complete, and the flightdeck details are astonishing.
The Military Vehicle Wing was also featured:
Warbird activity included the Catalina and Spitfire ML407, while this Army Air Corps Lynx AH.9A was an interesting visitor:
Duxford Sunday 14th June:
After a murky start, things picked up at lunchtime with the departure of the Catalina and Buchon to the Cosford Airshow:
Based Nord 1002 G-ATBG was also flying:
Spitfire ML407 returned from Northolt, while MH434 was active at Classic Wings:
This 1965 Airtourer is looking good approaching her 50th birthday:
Duxford Wednesday 10th June:
Another busy (and bitterly cold) day at Duxford. Starting with two sorties from the Shark:
Spitfire ML407 was also busy, and plenty of hangar shuffling was going on:
Buchon ‘Yellow 10’ is presently lacking the swastika, after a trip to the continent:
Visiting Tiger Moth G-MOTH:
The latest Chipmunk to emerge from ARCo’s workshops is G-BYSJ, a very early (1950) production aircraft which was initially delivered to Cambridge UAS, and is now wearing the blue band of RAFC Cranwell:
The RAF Tutor display aircraft was visiting, and flew with based Bulldog XX543. A great display, sadly into sun as usual.
Duxford Saturday 6th June:
A welcome arrival today was the Rolls-Royce Spitfire PR.XIX G-RRGN/PS853:
As mentioned above, the Blenheim I was playing away this afternoon:
Today’s strong winds brought a few visitors for circuit training, including Portuguese marked Chipmunk G-CGAO and brand new RV-7 G-RIDG:
A Bonus Day Fly-In tomorrow should attract plenty of GA arrivals.
Here’s something to look forward to:
From WAHT at:

”The Snipe and Albatros left Auckland in a container last week and should be with us by the end of June. Thanks to the Shuttleworth Collection, they will be reassembled at Old Warden by Martin and Steve of Flying Restorers and hopefully be ready for the WW1 evening (sic) planned for 5th July.
There is a very real chance of seeing at least 5 of Tommy Sopwith’s types at the show with the Snipe and a Sopwith Dove (2 seat Camel) joining the resident aircraft.”
Expected are:
Sopwith Snipe ZK-SNI ‘F2367’ 70 Sq marks
Albatros D.Va ZK-TGY in markings of Paul Baumer, Jasta 5
Yes, that’s the event which features the Vulcan……
