Some more Duxford events:
Sat March 28th
Duxford will be the venue for a joint Government/CAA presentation on the future UK strategy for General Aviation. It may sound boring, but the event will attract some big names and hopefully lots of GA visitors. ‘Bonus Day’ terms are on offer to visiting pilots.
Wed April 15th
The next H&H Car auction, top lot at the moment is A DB6 for around £200,000.
Sun May 17th
The Vintage Aircraft Club Bonus Day Fly-In. Other Clubs may join in, could be a good turn out.
Sun Jun 7th
A Duxford Bonus Day Fly-In, usual reduced fees for all aircraft, and a series of tours are planned featuring IWM/DAS and OFMC
Sat/Sun Aug 1st/2nd
British Microlight Aircraft Association Bonus Day Fly-In.
Duxford Wednesday 18th March:
I see from their website that the Red Arrows are booked for both the May and September Duxford airshows, but in both cases on the Sunday only.
Not much to report from a quick visit this morning. Painting and stencilling continue on the F-15A in Hangar 5. I was reminded that the unit markings reflect a squadron (525th TFS) which is still active, with the F-22 in Alaska:
It’s still early in the AAM redevelopment, smaller artifacts are still leaving and initial glazing work has started:
Duxford Monday 16th March:
A very significant anniversary passed almost unnoticed at Duxford today. 40 years ago, on March 16th 1975, B-17G ‘Sally B’ arrived to take up residence. The weather was poor, and nobody could afford colour in those days!
Thanks to Duxman for the above two photos.
Here’s ‘Sally B’ this morning:
A colourful Decathlon spent some time in the circuit:
Elsewhere:
The silver Spitfire model is new build. You can buy one in the Duxford IWM shop for £520.00.

Duxford Saturday 14th March:
Early birds at Duxford this morning were treated to a blistering display by Spitfire TD314, sadly in very poor weather conditions. Some afternoon sunshine saw the Boultbee Tr.9 in the circuit (after a short ‘technical’ tailwheel delay):
Another training sortie from ‘Taz’
Duxford Friday 13th March:
Tomorrow is the last day of Winter opening hours at Duxford. From Sunday, the Museum closes at 1800.
Nothing much to report again, so here are some more views of Spitfire TD314 which was on the move today:
After a year in hiding, it was good to see Alan again this afternoon:
Duxford Sunday 8th March:
Today’s highlight was 2015’s first outing for Dragon Rapide G-AGJG. Lovely to see her cavorting in the sunshine:
More stencils on the F-15A in Hangar 5, and confirmation that she will wear the markings worn when in service with 36th TFW at Bitburg circa 1980. Pylons also now refitted:
Finally, a candidate for scruffiest visitor of the year (I’d guess it’s survived an attack or been hit by a car). Probably beyond restoration:
