Old Warden Sunday 11th May:
Today’s (cancelled) airshow should have marked 50 years of the SVAS, but rather neatly commemorated 50 years of rain and strong winds at Old Warden. Lots of extra ground activities were laid on, and the chance was taken to get an update from the workshops.
The Tomtit is now fully assembled and very close to flight:
The Camel’s wings are now awaiting completion in the workshop, though the project will slow down during the busy Summer period. There’s a nice contrast with the construction of the Spitfire’s starboard wing:

There’s a container outside TFC with N284CF, a P-40 inside…..
There’s another C-47 already on the way over for the D-Day anniversary. N74589 has reached Narsarsuaq…
Two of the C-47s which will be part of the Duxford May airshow are coming from the USA.

The ARCo tugs had another very busy day. Movements included most of Buchon ‘Yellow 10’:
We’ve been waiting impatiently for the first ‘double’ picture of the Mark One Partners’ two Spitfire Is. Sadly when it happened today we had poor light….
