Duxford Sunday 13th April:
Today was another busy day at Duxford, with plenty of visitors by road and air. Among the based aircraft flying was Auster G-AGTO, with a practice display mid afternoon:

Classic Wings were busy again:
Visiting Bulldog G-BZON:
Miss Velma has lost her US registration, maybe a move to G- is coming up:

Finally it was good to see Big Beautiful Doll back in the air after her accident in 2012:
They are on the way, expected June 7th:
Duxford Friday 11th April:
No Spitfires airborne today, though we had a sneak preview of a new mark with a seven-blade prop:
Both N3200 and MH434 were returned to Hangar 3 for weekend parking:
The Classic Wings season is now well underway:
One of today’s visitors, Yak 52 G-YAKH:
How many firemen does it take to change a windsock?
Duxford Wednesday 9th April (Part 3):
It wasn’t only Spitfires in the air today. The spectacular arrival of Buchon G-AWHE and more sorties from based Nord 1002 G-ATBG gave the place a Battle Of Britain atmosphere. When one of Duxford’s fuel tankers caught fire we were worried we might also lose another hangar to enemy attack.
Another arrival this afternoon was Texan G-TEXN:
Duxford Wednesday 9th April:
Anyone lucky enough to have visited Duxford today will be talking about the day’s entertainment for a long time. Our first clue was the sight of Terence heading towards Hangar 3, and sure enough, Spitfire N3200 was soon out in the bright sunshine:
The Spitfire was taken to the ARCo ramp, and just before 1400 she was airborne on her second test flight:
Returning after 30 minutes with a run and break. ( N3200 has a very distinctive whistle in flight ):
A great photo opportunity:
Another sortie at 1530:
Back in Hangar 3 at the close of play:
Thanks for the duck data. You learn something every day.
The Super Cub in French markings is G-CUBJ, based at Old Warden for many years. It was owned by the late Alain Grisay, a Shuttleworth Trustee who passed away in February.
In the March issue of Light Aviation, Arthur Ord-Hume recalls an option to buy a complete Bristol Fighter (now at Old Warden) in 1949 for EIGHT POUNDS……..
Old Warden Tuesday 8th April:
There’s been a lot happening at Old Warden in the three weeks since my last visit. A programme of hangar fire-proofing is nearly complete, and there has been some major work on the trees around the aerodrome boundary.
Some re-positioning of inmates took place this morning, during which the based PT-22 G-BYPY was taking the sun:
The Tomtit is looking good, with just the wings requiring completion:
The Lysander remains in the workshops awaiting repairs, and the Cygnet is also receiving attention:
An example of how small donations can add up:
A few more pictures from the hangars:
Finally, this was noticed patrolling outside Hangar 7. Can anyone enlighten me as to the origin of this mallard’s Mohican?
Duxford Tuesday 8th April:
Most of the HAC Hurricane returned to Hangar 3 this morning. September will mark 25 years since ‘first’ flight with TFC at Duxford:
Ferocious Frankie was moving in the opposite direction:
Talking of Mustangs, Miss Velma is presently demonstrating the cabriolet version of the Mustang:
Finally:
A quick reminder that next Saturday, April 12th, is the Duxford Safety Day. There will be presentations by a wide range of Air Safety and General Aviation organisations available to visitors both by air and road. I believe there are still some Fly-In slots available, with reduced landing and entry fees. More details on the poster:
