Your in luck with post war units. 121 Wing was reformed on 1st April this year at Coningsby, with funny old thing, Typhoons (the paraffin burning type) of 3 Squadron (and 11 Sqn when they reform with the type).
thats why I was asking… 😉 😀 Thanks for the help chaps..
Neil.
I am going to get a map out there an have a look and look into options of taxis etc. Thank you all for your help. Id hope some of you would know why i am suddenly interested in a Vulcan.
if you want to look at a Vulcan up close then you’re better off making the effort to get to Newark – the Wado one is set back a fair way the other side of a fence..
Hi
This guys son is at the University right now, not in the 60’s !! He says this plane is there now.
does it look like this..?? 😀

Neil
It’s not art, it’s vandalism.
IMHO, of course.
I went to london yesterday for the first time for ages, and just about every surface seemed to have been scribbled-on by some aerosol toting moron.. no I’m not keen either.. 😀

excellent! nice find.. 😀

Not wholly true….
The Apache pilot sits in the back, the CPG sits in the front CPG= co pilot gunner, there are controls in the front (extendable cyclic)….helicopters are cool….don’t knock em until you tried them!
is it correct that the pilot is normally an NCO and the ‘gunner’ is an officer (and captain) ??
Neil
presumably its somethign like the one in the background of this shot??
I would Second that – John Dibbs. Charles E.Brown produced some superb atmospheric cloudscape shots, but not punchy ‘in your face’ air-to-airs.
both very different syles, the JD shots normally have great impact, but can be a bit ‘samey’, whereas personally I see the Brown shots as something I could hang on the wall forever.. hey if there was one ‘best’ way then everyone would be doing it like that.. 😀
Neil
Vote Ollie !!
but seriously, I agree with Septic regarding Charles E Brown… beautiful B & W shots..
Neil.
nice! you can see my old office in the background of the Egypt Air shot!! the Iberia scheme looks quite modern compared to what was the norm at the time..
Neil.
Hmmm I probably do have my first picture I took.. must’ve been at Farnborough 1970-something…. I know I have still got the postcard that I was given on the first aircraft I flew in – a Swissair Cv990 Coronado 😮
Neil
Guzziniel with regards to the rash comment on Lancs lasting better in Oz then maybe I was a bit quick with that one and I appologise whole heartedly…
John.
no worries, I should’ve added more smilies as my post was very much tongue in cheek (and an excuse to post a couple of Lanc pictures! 😀 )
Neil
love the smokey Ryan shot..
Neil.
