JDK.. interesting pictures… ref the date for the TAA pics.. the Electra pictured entered service in July ’59 and the Orange tail scheme was phased-out mid-60’s.. interestingly enough VH-TLB was subject of an atempted Hijack. 😮

This is what is written on my paperwork.
BP.
was that sent out recently as I dont seem to have seen it??
Neil
weren’t they also used to repartriate POW’s… these were standard Lancs I think, so what did the pax do on the way back.. sit on the floor?? 😮
Neil.
Their is a company in the UK that insure ground running aircraft but the cost are huge, last time we insured Buccaneer XX894 whilst she was at Kemble, the premium was £1800 per year and that was 4 years ago.
Another line of thought is something that was mentioned during a meeting we had back in the spring, try and locate a company who insure Dragsters, might sound strange but certainly worth looking into.
Best of luck with your endeavours.
just out of interest, was that insuring the airframe or just public liability or both?? and just being nosey, does the CAA take any interest in things like ground-running only aircraft? I’d presume not as they dont aviate, just wondered if they had any input to the ground runs/taxi runs??

The new memorial is unveiled on Sunday. Presumably there will be a flypast?
Always remember them.
mmitch.
Spitfire + Hurricane + Typhoon (pointy-noisy one of course. )
Neil.
The Met Office weather forecast has now been revised to heavy showers – both days. 🙁
Time to persuade the bloke we’re supposed to be taking it’s not a good idea I think.
weathers ‘orrible here so doubt if anything else will be comming from this side of the country.. have just canx BBMF to Leuchars/Southport for today due wx here and en-route.. 🙁
Neil.
when we left at 1800, in addition to the residents there were:
Hurri – BBMF X1 + Mr Vaschers
Spitfire – The Dutch one + BBMF X2. The ‘Merlins Over Malta’ Spit was out of sight in ‘area 51’..
The Seahawk, a modern Hawk and the Breitling L39s arrived and a Tornado flew around in a pointy and noisy fashion..
The weather turned really ‘orrible as I was driving home so I’d suspect the rest of the arrivals will be in the morning..
Neil.
the chap in your pictures certainly brightened up our day… 😀
no truth in the rumor then that he was demonstrating the ‘conversion to type’ trainer for the Isaacs Spitfire..!! 😀
Nice pics BTW.
Neil.
It’s probably cheaper to fly to Florida and go to Jack Brown’s. That is what everybody else does if they just want the experience and rating.
as I just want to go along for the ride rather than the rating, a long weekend in Scotland is probably the cheaper option (but probably only just  ).. Neil
John even you can’t honestly believe that there is anything Sporty about either the Mustang or the Capri, they maybe OK in a straight line, but throw in a couple of corners and both marques are totally flummoxed.
????
depends if you mean real-world roads/corners or racetracks.. Mr Clarkson and co rave on about on the on-the-limit, hanging the ar$e out, burning rubber ‘handling’ of cars they test, but in the real world the average owner isnt capable of using that performance, and if he does so on the public roads is a complete w^nker..! its something that also aflicts motorcycle road-testers who seem to almost weekly crown a new ‘best bike ever’ because its a nanosecond quicker around a track..
unless I was going to do track days, if I had the money I’d go for style, comfort, and real-world performance of the Mustang rather than sitting with my bum 2 inches off the ground, rattling my fillings over bumps and wishing I was somewhere else.. If I were setting-up a racing team, the choice may be different.. 😉
Neil
ps.. when I had my Capri and Mustang my greatest joy was chasing ‘real sports cars’ such as MGB’s and Sprites and changing up a gear as I passed them.. 😀
