engine is the wrong way round.. you want the cylinders sticking out in the breeze, keeps ’em cool and your knees warm.. 😀 😀

this place below does 2nd hand and part-ex kids gear…just dont get him the leather jacket with tassels on it – could mentally scar him for life – he may end buying a Harley! 😀 😮 Neil.

a weekly trundle round once a week sounds like a good idea for him at that age – he looks quite safe, happy and comfy in amongst the luggage ! have you considered one of those ‘belt with handle devices’ that they market (pillion pals or some naff name?/) – might just give him something more substantial to hang on to and he’d be even more aware of what you’re doing.. and maybe some proper gear.. trouble is that once he gets a set of leathers (!) it’ll probably lead to wanting his own off-road bike… 😀

    WP805 ‘D’ Chipmunk T.10 of 6 AEF at RAF Abingdon, 5th November 1976.

I would welcome any suggestions as to how I might be able to find out the pilot’s name (long shot after all this time) and would also like a decent photo of WP805, if anyone has one.

snap!!! 😀 (see my post about 10 above yours!)

looks like WP805 is still flying, now G-MAJR…. anyone know where its based??

first flight was a Swissair Convair 990 Coronado (!) but first ‘proper’ aeroplane was Chipmunk WP805 on 25th jan 1976, 30 mins ‘air experience’ from Abingdon…. 😀 most recent flight was in the ‘local’ Dakota.. 😉

thanks for that.. thinking out loud now, I think i’ll go for uncompressed files burned to CD, it’ll still mean lots of CD’s to store but easier to do so than the equiv. number of LPs…I’ll have to give it a go and see how much i can get on a CD – 2 LPs worth??? at least that should make it easier to find specific tracks rather than having to page through a long list of MP3’s…

Becka/Ian.. I think you’ve got the right idea.. hows that song go – “If it makes you happy, it cant be that bad” 😉

when I worked for BA the weather was available in either ‘plain language’ or the standard TAF-speak.. dont know if this was converted in-house or from the source.. now days despite checking TAFs/METARs through the day I still have to refer to the book to confirm some codes – I’m still waiting to see a TAF showing the code IC, which is apparently ‘diamond dust’!!

Are you one of the volunteers as well then?

no, just a visitor…get along to listen to the guest speakers whenever my shifts allow..

as 682al noted the same picture appears in Lancaster at war 2, although its been cleaned up a bit and cropped – maybe if someone could locate the original you may be able to get it scanned and enhanced to make the nose art detail a bit clearer?
