The second was from William Dunn also mentions that an ‘other’ MEP has taken up the issue, but then asked “Surely, however, the old thing ought to be covered by proper insurance?” and “When the EU Directive was passed it sounds like either or both of aircraft enthusiasts and the UK government failed to have their eyes on the ball and failed to ask for an exception to be written into the EU law at the time it was drafted ?” … all of which rather leads one to believe he does not share our concerns in the least!

or perhaps he’s saying what most ‘outsiders’ with no emotional interest in Sally B would think?? 😮 there doesnt seem to be any proposal as to what ‘we’ should campaining for as reasonable insurance – the only case being put forward at the moment for exemption seems to be ‘we cant afford it, its not fair’.. I just hope that we’ve learnt something from this and campaing more virgorously against the proposed increased CAA charges, theres more chance of stopping changes before they’re introsuced rather than afterwards..

probably a case of ‘form over function’ as it looks good and the technical ‘excuse’ came afterwards! it does fit with the ‘deco’ look of the period.. lovely!!!!

What if it was put on the US registry & got a N number?

as the legislation currently stands I believe it applies to any a/c operating in UK FIR..

well I hope they can come up with a way of sorting this out.. I’m not sure how they can ‘exempt’ Sally B though and still keep the legislation in place for other a/c – you would assume that the figure decided upon for minimum insurance was some kind of estimate/expectation of the damage that may be caused by an a/c of that size…so it doesnt matter how often it flys as that doesnt lessen the claim?? should obviously influence the premium though… I wonder if the 3rd part liability for that weight group has been bumped up in the expectation that there would pax. involved, so maybe a get-out there..

I’d rather gouge my eyes out with forks.

First time round was an interesting social experiment with a sprinkling of ‘normal’ people thrown in – now it’s just a tedious ratings-booster full of misfits and wierdos, watched by wasters who have absolutely nothing better to do with their lives.

    Just my opinion, of course…

couldnt have put it better myself Steve..!

What was different about those days was the lack of mass-media to glamourise such activity and make it fashionable and attractive to the dull-witted or, on the other hand, to whip up fear, loathing and hysteria among the timorous and vengeful.

agree with you there.. am I the only one who shouts at the TV ‘its DID’ when the latest ‘celebrity thickie’ is being interviewed and insists on telling everyone that they ‘done’ this or that.. sounds pathetic I know but to me its just an example of the ‘its cool to be a moron’ culture.. the other thing that gets my goat is kids talking with this affected west-indian type patois accent ‘coz it makes me look lika gangsta innit’.. Neil
