apparently it had probs on its C of A airtest on Weds with the gear posi indication lights… so I wonder if its actually been handed over to TFC yet.. if not then that may be a reason why it was being worked on over the weekend rather than parked outside as I’m sure that Hawker Rest. would be keen to clean up this final snag, and hand the a/c over… other than that apparently there were no other probs with it which is quite an achievement really with what was a ground-up rebuild..
an ATR or a Polo !!! 😀
yes theres one i see in Crawley… and I have the misfortune to see ATR’s at LGW on a regular basis!
didn’t Volswagen offer a similar scheme a few years ago on the Polo ?? supposed to look like you’d put panels on from a selection of other cars… hmm as its an ATR thats probably quite possible..
I was at the east end of the crowd line and didn’t notice so much with the flying display but more so when the ‘Merlin’ Spits took off from the grass runway, they were very close to us… seemed fab at the time but in retrospect an engine failure at that height couldn’t been very messy..
okely dokely…. look forward to the next announcement!
Neil.
🙂
thanks for that chaps… I was only looking at downloading some from the airshows that i’ve been to as a record really…
Neil.
presumably they can use the slots and aeroplane for something more profitable… may’ve been ‘full’ regularly but depends who its ‘full’ of… if its just being filled with lots of cheap fare punters then they’ll be looking to use the a/c + slots somewhere they can fill the aeroplane with higher yield pax.
I’m sure that one of the animals in the second picture has been
stuffed and mounted… give us a clue which one!!!!
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
I suspect that the fact they have got ‘union flag’ tails is part of the criteria for selecting the a/c… we don’t mention ‘the other tails’ anymore!!!
i’m not back at work to get an update before the weekend but enjoy RIAT… wish I was going.
Neil.
if anything moved back to LGW (some hope!) it wouldn’t be on a 747.. unless they were going to maintain the a/c at LHR.
hi ‘330’
as of yesterday (sat 12th) its IVP allocated to the Saturday Fairford charter and NLM on the Sunday… obviously things may change before next weekend.. its planned to be a Lo-J (ie more economy) 747-400… enjoy it anyway!
Neil.
i’ve not been around since last weekend so missed out on the probs, apart from getting a bit of a shock last night when i tried to get in to the site and couldn’t… but hurrah! we’re back… and with a new name???
anyway, as a bit of a warm-up for next weekend, just imagine the attached ‘lot’ appearing overhead Duxford…
they did show a nice picture of the Spitfire that crash landed during one Victory Flypast.. landed on a cricket pitch and had dents on the leading edge of the wing to show where it took out the stumps!
back to aeroplanes and its BBMF related.. went to a ‘talk’ at Metheringham Airfield tonight by 3 chaps from the BBMF… one interesting comment was that if the hurri/spit suffered an engine failure at 3000 ft then it would only continue to aviate for about 17 seconds?? i’m sure there must be some formula to calculate this involving the angle of the dangle etc, but whats the thourghts of our aviating commentators??
excellent evening by the way.. £2.50, free booklet, tea and biccies at hal time and the procedes to the visitors centre..
DHFAN.. heres the BBMF Spit in SEAC colours..
