Deskpilot, I am now on a mission to find out about the “Missing Memorial,

its at Thorpe Camp, which is just down the road … its an excellent small museum based around the domestic site for the airfield… well worth a visit..

as is The Kinema – my ‘local’… especially if they have ‘the man with his organ’ on duty and he appears through the stage during the interval :).. yes they have intervals, you cant buy an ice cream before then !

its Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust which already own part of the site who are trying to buy the remainder… part of it is gravel pits, whats not clear is if they are also talking about the part of the site which is still RAF Woodhall Spa and under the control of Coningsby… or, heaven forbid, the RAF Coningsby golf course which is on the same site 🙂

the current RAF site is on the lefthand corner of the site on this map.. I guess the remains of the runway are the eastish-westish section in the middle

    and some more details

Middle lanes… ooow what luxury..! I have to drive/ride at least 50 miles to the nearest stretch of 3 lane road 🙂 the downside is that all of our single carriageway A roads are clogged up with lorries restricted to 48 MPH – who’s bright idea was that???!

    I read this recently Jim
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/bookreviews/7904262/The-Secret-Life-of-Bletchley-Park-by-Sinclair-McKay-review.html

concentrates on the people side a bit more than some of the more technical books..

:applause: I was also going to point that out, but the poor old boy hasn’t been well so thought I’d let it go 🙂
