It is remotely possible that the line of Fuselages in the left foreground could contain that of TFC’s example (No 82) going by the numbers of those in the other lines….

My apologies for reviving an ancient thread chaps and chapesses.
I have been trying to find out what happened to Stephen Piercey’s photo archive as mentioned in his obituary in Air International, would anybody know where it ended up please?
Regards Tom
‘213 got the Spinner as she already had the ex-Charles Church Battle prop ready to go and the ex-‘501 prop was pretty well at the end of her life and went into the spares package for the aircraft
The stampe was c/n 45, G-BHFG.
Hello Eric,
While you are correct in the fact that BHFG was contracted for use by the production company, unfortunately, due to damage sustained whilst in-transit, she was not used for any major scenes in the movie as the engineers were busy trying to repair her all through shooting out in Andalucia. Air Britain also corroborate that G-AWXZ was the actual aircraft used.
As Daz referred to the Aeroplane article fills in most of the blanks, there were only ever the two French P.2s used, Jacques Bourret’s and AJBS’s.
Thanks for the comments chaps. Pete and BHHH made the decision to take her to Biggin to complete the flight testing as it is rather boggy on the grass here at Booker at present. I’m very relieved to say that she has performed well thus far and the Permit to Fly should be issued today. The next week or so will be spent building up some hours on her to shake-out any gremlins that might creep into the works.
From Oregon, to Kemble, to Booker, to Chelsea for ‘Masterpiece’ then on to Biggin now she’s done a fair bit of travelling, pleasing that the last journey was by air! 🙂
I hope that works for you chaps, while it’s not displaying the jpeg on the page it does link through ok for me, let me know.
This Forum software is not great for photo uploads imho.
Cheers
Tom
Hello Dave,
Hope this works, linking to a shared folder on my Onedrive account, here goes…
Hello James,
The Series 1 aircraft were fitted with Dunlop “EX, HVY, code 1.EE.17” 11.25-12 tyres.
The Series 2 aircraft were fitted with Dunlop “FE11” 30 x 9.00-15 tyres.
Hope that helps in some way
Cheers
Tom
I’m not sure how true it is but I do recall one of the chaps from Napier Power Heritage saying that the Sabre that is now in Florida that Andy is working on for Kermit was supposed to be the last to have run when it was used to get the prototype Deltic-engined train up to speed so as not to put too greater load on it, I do remember a date of mid to late fifties.
It is also the engine that was on display in the Acton office foyer for a long time, we had a local lady pop in a couple of months ago thanks to a gent by the name of Eldridge who is her neighbour, she started at Napier’s early in the war and took great joy telling us all that she made a cup of tea for “Bee” Beamont and was even more thrilled to hear that the engine she walked past every day for years is still around. I’d like to know how the “enterprising type” managed to get it out of the Foyer when Napier’s packed-up and into his/her garage as that’s supposed to be where it was found by the late Mr Grace 😉
She’s nearly ready for the containers now!

After she had completed a full inspection in the hanger at Cranfield Bedfordshire. This should all be in her log book, mid 60’s.
I started as a volunteer erk washing the floor with av gas, I finished when she left the place.
When you have had the best.
Just bring her back.
Did it definitely run whilst there wally-to? Only I thought she was missing her radiator?
Does anybody know where this wing section was on display please?
Is it me or were the bars of the star & bar retained and the roundels just applied ‘on the pi55’ in the centre? or has the paint in that area been rubbed down to reveal the US markings?
From what I recall he has sold the following British aircraft over the past few years:
Spitfire IX PL344 – to Tom Blair
Spitfire IX TE517 – to G2 Trust
Lysander V9312 – To ARC Duxford
There was somebody interested in MV262 for a while but I’ve not heard anything further.
It was matt-lacquered for the ‘Masterpiece’ display a while back and has had some of the paintwork touched-up during the refurb. The question of the actual scheme has been mentioned a few times as you can imagine but the owner wants to retain the current scheme.
It’s taken a while but here’s a short video of one of the engine runs we carried out on MT818
It won’t be long now, weighing on Tuesday…
