Didn´t I tell you? 😀

insane, absolutely insane…
If one wants to make a german aircraft restoration the investment on the cockpit is prolly gonna be more than for other important components…
Alex
But I have to say that some of the RAF parts now are at the same level.
When I think about Spitfire/Hurricane spade grips, Spitfire U/C indicator, Spitfire gunsight and some others.
Herbert
Herbert, So that panel etc… looks original then ?
Hello Dave
No, I don´t think, that the panel is an original, an original will be alone some thousand Euros because there are only few left.
I just took a closer look and saw, the undercarriage indicator is a replica so EUR 600,- minus. The Fuehrertochterkompass also seems to be a replica, looks like a cardboard face, this is a pity, they come very seldom and the value increased the last five years from EUR 800,- to EUR 1000,- and more.
Cheers,
Herbert
Hello Dave 🙂
Thanks, I have such a replica U/C indicator from Mr. Corke.
The fuel tank selector switch is an original with replica plate.
This will work as substitute but it´s fun to dream of an original.
Interestingly the Hurricane´s I´ve never seen for sale 🙁
So the correct fuel gauge 28 and 33 gallons. I wonder how the owner´s of the airworthy get them.
Kind regards,
Herbert
And i wonder if Herbert would care to comment on this pricy item.
Someone calling me? 😀
Well, friends, you have to think of that:
A Fuehrertochterkompass in that condition would be about EUR 1100,- alone.
A Bf 109 undercarriage indicator in that condition would be around EUR 600,-
Starter handle complete like that EUR 400,-
The correct small magneto switch in that condition EUR 400,-
If the Luftschrauben Stellungsanzeige is not a replica it will be 300,-
The clock alone 400,-
Now we have EUR 3200,- (GBP 2150,-) without the rest.
Well, putting together instrument panels is an expensive one.
By the way, anyone having a Hurricane U/C indicator or fuel gauge……….O.K. at least I tried 😉
Kind regards,
Herbert
Three Ju-88s and a Do-17 at Utti airbase in Finland in Summer 1953. These airplanes were scraped during the same year.
Argh, that hurts! An airworthy Ju-88 or Do-17 would be something
Instrument panel projects webpage
Here is a new and very nice webpage regarding Luftwaffe panel projects (Panelnachbauten):

Yes, but Horst is still available.
Actually the trigger switch is for the guns, the one at the top for the machine guns and the one with the bracket for the bombs.
Ask Horst Rienecker for originals and repros.

Speyer aeromarket is in April, there also might be some originals lying around.
All the best,
Herbert
These pages and the continuing ones show detailed pictures of the Hurricane´s inner parts.

nice… nice price too
Yes, that´s the problem with selling complete panels.
When you think about the raising prices for the RAF instruments (like the Mk VIII oxygen regulator alone sells for GBP 300 to 400,-) the price is O.K.
For my FW 190 instrument panel I´ve spent about EUR 6000,-
Hard to sell at once.
Herbert
Hello Roketeer
Thanks for your authentication, because I heard from Michael, that you are also a spade grip expert. I guess, I was lucky, seeing it at eBay before you 😉
No, seriously, it approached at eBay yesterday with buy it now and even it´s a lot of money (USD 2000,-) it´ll fit perfectly my planned Hurricane instrument panel. 😀
And I guess, these won´t come often. The last I saw at eBay was a Harvard one with a replica break lever.
Kind regards,
Herbert
It´s only a symbolic panel. The instrumentation makes no sense and is not a real aircraft related.
The remote compass (Fuehrertochterkompass) and the U/C indicator (Vierlampengeraet) would be the only instruments of higher value, if they are not fakes (need detailed pictures and also opening).
There are these compasses around with original outside parts and replica inner parts. And also complete fakes (see picture). They all come from the Czechs, who sell them as originals 🙁
I´d give EUR 1500,- for the panel. That would be the value of the parts together.
Herbert
Here´s a picture of the Malta´s restored Hurricane cockpit I once took. If someone might be interested.
Herbert
Hello Nik 🙂
Thanks for your posting.
If so, I don´t mind the collector´s lack of interest, when at the same time I have the chance to purchase Hurricane-only instruments. The price for Spitfire-only items doubled during some years and it´s almost impossible to win an eBay auction except you´re putting all your money in.
Regards,
Herbert
