Any special 50th anniversary event planned, Bruce? My Dad copied his video of the Mosquito 50th Anniversary onto DVD for me the other day – brought back many happy memories!
Just to add to David Collins’ response, and whilst I’m deeply emersed in Swordfish data plates (!!), the EEP denotes English Electric Preston.

The document I refer to may well be a diary – it’s so long since I saw it. Does my description ring a bell? This must have been WG236’s diary as the photos were very definitely of ‘236. I seem to recall the entry for 6th Sept 1952 being very understated and subdued – something like “Crashed Farnborough”.

You say the DH110 flight test reports? I clearly remember Henry Rolfe (is he still around?) had a proper bound copy of the DH110 flight test reports. That is probably going back 15 yrs or so, and IIRC the document had dark green end papers. Certainly there were the photos of WG236 with wool tufts on the wings and the boom stiffeners fitted. Is this the same thing? If so, bit bemused as to why you had to buy one of Ebay when it should have been in the library? I do recall Henry saying that this particular artefact was rescued from the bin at Hatfield.
Also in March 1994 John Wilson typed up all of WG236 and WG240’s entries from the logbook of John Cunningham and amalgamated them with the flight test reports from John Derry, John Wilson, Chris Capper and Jock Elliot. He sent me a copy at the time (looking at it now!). I seem to recall he said he was going to produce a copy for the Museum too.

Hatfield in Hertfordshire used for the DDay take off scenes and most of the series of Band of Brothers
I think you’ll find the take off scenes were at North Weald, masquerading as Upottery, Devon. You can clearly see the ‘A’ type hangar in the background. It’s a shame as they could easily have used Upottery itself – we had a Dak in there last year for the first time since 1944.

I’m guessing that you’ve taken your information from “Fleet Air Arm Aircraft 1939 to 1945” Sturtivant/Burrow, Air-Britain? If so, I’m afraid that is the latest information we have, other than the names of the crew: Sub Lieutenant REA Hibburd, Sub Lieutenant J Mason and Petty Officer DH Duncan, all of whom were killed.
If you do come up with any further information that I’ll add it in to the updates for when we do the fully revised reprint (probably a couple of years off at least).
Cheers

….to be honest RNHF could paint it bright pink and I’d still look forward to seeing it.
Drooling yet?

There are tanks here, yes. However VR930 can’t use them due to the fuel lines being deleted during rebuild. As with the tanks for the Sea Hawk they would also impose serious wing fatigue penalties and preclude aerobatics with them fitted.
No T.20 flew in Royal Navy service in anything other than silver/yellow. The only exception to this, arguably, was VX301 on loan to Ferranti which sported a red nose and dark blue fuselage scheme.
What you’ve got to remember, for those familiar with “Only Fools and Horses”, is the old “Trigger’s Broom” syndrome – over the length of an aircraft’s life pretty much everything gets replaced through natural wear and tear/modifications etc so that by the time it goes out of service very few components it has are those which the aircraft first took to the skies with.
If you want an aircraft in as near original (ie as it was when it last flew in service) configuration then IMHO you’d be hard pushed to find a better example than the Corsair at Yeovilton.

…..AND Swordfish 😉
Here are a few pictures of N20MD taken mid September at Reno.
Sigh 🙁
Not the ones I personally would like to see it in, but all will be revealed in due course – you’ll have to be patient!!;)
Barry’s Provosts ended up at …..Westonzoyland (Somerset)…
Whereabouts? I haven’t seen anything out there when I’ve visited. I take it they were statics only?
…..wondered if that colour scheme /markings are what it will be wearing when it flies again ??
Nope. 😎
Just goes to prove plane bits can turn up in the oddest of places!! 😀
Indeed – the arrester hook from XJ607 is currently sat on my fireplace hearth! 😀
