I see according to the latest edition of ‘Loop’ the Flight now has a Seafire as well.

The Seafire flew from North Weald to Yeovilton on Friday for a short stay in connection with a flypast over HMS Ark Royal this coming week, but it’s not kept in RNHF’s hangar! LOOP (which I believe has used at least one of my photos in the article, which I haven’t seen yet) appear to have made many erroneous statements – one of them about the Battle of the Atlantic where “everyone died”, or some such wording. They actually mean the Channel Dash!

Just goes to show you shouldn’t believe everything you read!

IMO what makes the scheme will be the 899 NAS insignia on the tail, which is still under wraps! The front half does look smart though 🙂

Be assured, it looks good. 😀

Glad PK got hold of some original transfers. Mind you, after all this time I bet they were fun to get on in one piece!

Stops the timer at 4 days, 10hrs, 30mins, 16seconds and 45milliseconds ‘crikey that took longer than I thought, looks like I lost the bet’. Does she or does she not look gorgeous though people!

Indeedy. It’s only a slight shame that time did not permit applying all of the authentic service stencilling I was drawing up in preparation. Still, the fist and everything else look great.:D

Well I suppose it was inevitable that it would happen eventually, but I can’t help but think it a bit of a shame that a “spoiler” has appeared especially in light of DHA’s desire to try and keep it under wraps. All this guessing was a bit of fun.

But don’t my markings look good! 😀

VR930’s got the correct colour roundels, the correct codes and all of the Hawker serial numbers and DTD specs plastered all over the place – all in the correct stencil font – which makes her stand out from a crowd. Have a close look when you see her around the shows this year 🙂

Believe me I’m pushing for it to be authentic, but I don’t have the final decision.

Hands up all those who would like to see it silver with yellow trainer bands?

I think the cockpit will at least revert to being black instead of “Formica Kitchen White” but the moment the main thing is to get her here.

That’s still as she looks today (VR930 has the edge though! 😉 ) but the plan is to refinish her at some stage.

Nice! one question though. Why does the new Fury have a civil reg if it’s in RN service again? Or is the RNHF a civil operation with military backing/pilots?

All of RNHF’s existing aircraft are military owned and flown only by serving military pilots. However VX281 will not be placed back onto the UK military register which would be a lengthy exercise and, if nothing else, allows a bit more flexibility – key for its primary role as the Flight’s trainer.

Glad you all like VR930’s new “outfit” anyway. It was worth all those late nights sat at the PC and those unpaid Sundays in the Dope Shop!!:D

Sounds like he needs a trip to Specsavers then! No Firefly around!

Maybe he saw some of the FAAM aircraft outside on Monday, including the Wyvern.

Yes I heard about that, or rather I heard about the ‘Firefly’ flying on Wednesday from the chap I met in the field.

    What Firefly?

C-GZIC arrived on Tuesday afternoon, followed shortly afterwards by ZZ190 which performed numerous touch and goes.

Lovely to see them, but not the most sexiest Hawker product to be seen this week:D
