Slightly OT, but I saw a nice one yesterday. And this one’s definitely a ‘Sea’!
Sure is, albeit an Aussie one! Fair amount of modification to it too – no hook and a modified rudder to suit, not to mention the smokewinders!! Still, at least it still has a PROPER engine in it! 😀
THIS is still the best one though….. 😀 😀 Phwoaaaarrr!

Quite a number of the Iraqi recoveries were refurbished ex-FAA examples, whilst some were, as you say, new-build ISS airframes.
I should check my own blimmin book before I go putting my foot in it shouldn’t I!!
Only three ex-RN T.20s were refurbished for Iraq – VZ347, VZ348 and VZ367. The FB.11s (WJ293, WJ298, WM483 – 486, WN480 – 483) were all diverted off contract and thus never served with the Fleet Air Arm. So, technically, they were indeed Sea Furies as they were built in the same batches as RN Sea Furies, but how much of the navalised equipment (retractable tailwheel, folding wings, arrester hook, catapult hardpoints etc) were retained on the latter aircraft before completion is another matter.
Sea Furies or ISS (Iraqi Single Seat) Furies? Always thought it was the latter (certainly those that were rescued by Ed Jurist/David Tallichet during the 1970s and that are flying now are all ISS Furies, not their Naval counterparts)
Has anyone got details of where it is off to? I take it TFC are continuing their restoration of VX653?
Has anybody read this crap yet?

Yet another dig at Flying at Duxford.
Poor Neil Rix. They can’t even get his name right.
Indeed. 😡
Look forward to seeing the Sea Fury at Dunsfold this weekend. 😀
Btw, is she landing at there?
That is the plan, yes. She’ll be displaying at the Plymouth Navy Days as well as performing a flypast at Henstridge en-route.

Looking good there Bruce (the aircraft, that is, not the pic of you on your back – dear me! 😮 ). How is the wing getting on these days? Any forecast as to when the whole lot is likely to form one complete Mossie?
Any further plans for an extended (or additional) hangar?
A few more….

A few more pics posted on my original thread…..
BBMF didn’t come down, Peter ended the show in the Spit XI
No, I realised that – explained why I never saw or heard the BBMF as I left.
Ah, I heard the PR.XI take off again as I got in the car to go at 1655. I saw the black rain cloud approaching rapidly and by that time the light had pretty much gone, so sticking around for the BBMF didn’t seem like a good idea.
Well done indeed! This really is what airshows should be like. You can keep your RIATs!
Yes, that was a pain. I’m still not too sure whether there was a crossing point to enable those in one half of the field to get across to the static park area. When I arrived at 10am I ended up in the northern bit and realised the aircraft were in the southern part. One of the stewards advised me to drive out of the gate and over to the far side as, in his opinion, there wasn’t any such crossing available for pedestrians. If that was the case then it was a shame (there wasn’t any PA system in the static park area either – good in some ways, but would have been nice to have heard what was going on). If, on the other hand, there was a crossing then it would indeed have been a long way around!
All in all, for a first attempt I thought it was very commendable – especially the roll call of aircraft types and examples that they managed to gather together. Would put some bigger-named shows to shame! Here’s looking forward to more shows here!
Just posted some photos in the Photographic section…… http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=61365
This fine Portuguese marked Chippy also joined the party.
Septic.
G-BARS, formerly WK520, or the Vomit Comet as I know her (though I am getting better…..as long as red wine doesn’t come into the equation!). Her owner was busy with a certain Seafire thingmejig at the time 😀
Just been asked to put an update on the website – Non-Flyer’s Tickets, priced at £40 each, for those who don’t wish to partake in the flying. This includes entry to the event (remember, TWO Seafire F.17s parked together!), entry to the Fleet Air Arm Museum and lunch.
Tickets can be booked via the website (via the Fundraising page).
