Technically yes you can speak to her Ladyship who owns the site and she can give you a tour for a fee which is used to support the displays in her small museum, or alternatively the barn is just off a public footpath so you can look from 80 yards away if you can’t make contact with her. It is a very interesting place to stand and try to imagine everything which went on.

Currently the Spit is sitting on the airfield with two Hurricanes, a Comet, Mewgull and a Dornier 28 as the Sea Hurricane has already flown to Duxford if anyone is interested..

Has anyone visited the airshows at Shuttleworth recently? Not all the airshows are in massive decline, just show your support for the shows and keep attending with a bit of luck and time after a safe season the CAA may actually talk with the airshow organisers and some changes may be able to be negotiated, please don’t write things off yet.

Just a quick reminder that the collection is holding it’s Engineering Open Days on the 2nd and 3rd of January 2016 (this weekend), it’s a great chance to see the progress of the restorations, talk to the engineers and volunteers and this year the entrance price includes the neighbouring Swiss Gardens so all the family can enjoy the whole site.
