Fantastic news, well done to everyone involved and I look forward to seeing the Lanc back in the air
Nice pictures from today David I was very lucky to be in the back of the storch so glad someone got some pictures of it too.
Steve
Ok Paul we’ll probably be bringing most of the gear back from the steam fayre so may see you again.
Southern air sadly the camel is still having problems with the engine bedding in but on the plus side the triplane has all it’s port wings back on.
Steve
Was good to briefly meet you earlier, I hope both yourself and your wife had a good time and enjoyed the collection today and we will see you again.
Steve
Glad you and your wife enjoyed your visit yesterday, if you do go back today myself and some of the other volunteers will be taking some more of the agricultural exhibits up to the steam fayre so if you see a guy in dark overalls playing with tractors come and say hi and I’ll try and answer any questions you may have.

Where abouts are you based? The Shuttleworth collection operate a percival provost and they may be able to help http://www.Shuttleworth.org
I really hope when the airframe goes on display reference is made to the contribution of the Bluebird team and things aren’t glossed over. This is a type I would really like to see completed.
Steve
For insurance purposes any event, including airshows, will have a capacity…..probably?
All the roads around Old Warden / the Shuttleworth Collection are narrow country lanes with hedges and / or ditches; there is very little opportunity to park near the airfield without blocking the roads or leading to such congestion that those with pre-booked tickets will not get in (and those turned-around without tickets will get out)…
…I foresee a bit of a nightmare traffic-wise!
Police and private security have had to be booked to ensure the roads stay clear and every effort has been made to contain as many of the queueing cars off the road inside the parkland.
PhantomII sorry you won’t make it to this show but every venue has to have insurance and risk assessments in place for the numbers of people who can attend and (depending on your view, it’s either good or bad) the site will reach it’s capacity on sunday, something which I have never seen before I’ve been there for 19 years. As has been said all of the roads are standard UK country roads and there won’t be any places for people to park up and watch as as well as unfair to everyone who has paid, this will put people in positions which could gridlock the whole road system. Please come to one of the other shows later in the season you can see the dates at http://www.shuttleworth.org one of the unique shows to come and see would be the uncovered airshow 4th october, http://www.shuttleworth.org/events/uncovered/ in this show some of the flying aircraft are placed in the main car park with access all around them and we drag them out for their display, then back in once landed.
Hope to see you later in the year
Steve
Very interesting and the report on Cardington was very good as there is now a real threat of houses being built on 3 sides of the sheds making further operations impossible
[QUOTE=Beaufighter VI;2229342]I was at Wangaratta on Friday and touched them both! Follow TFC Newsletters not the rumours.QUOTE]
Glad to see things are progressing and that (as usual) most rumours have no founding in the truth.
Steve
Great news, good luck and well done for all the hard work behind the scenes. Now you can start to see the physical results and be justly proud.
Thank you for bringing one of my favourites back from the grave
Steve
Unbelievable they’ve just been slowly building up, I saw 4 together a few years back and never thought that would be a third of the worlds population, great work everyone
I do like the Mewgull with the early canopy, nice pictures thanks for posting them.
Steve
Really impressive build, thanks for sharing it
Yep seems like people on a forum with only half information discussing how two plus two equals -1, not all the collection’s money comes in from air displays with the svas helping with the engineering costs, and I haven’t heard anything about the apparent near bankruptcy so I wouldn’t be too worried as they seem to have got the wrong end of the stick about the proposed changes which didn’t really happen.
