Front and trailing edges were silver, which they’ve got correct but you are right about the serials and roundels being wrong. Such a shame, as such inaccuate details could have been avoided with a little research, but obviously there are those that don’t care as long as ‘it looks pretty’!
Hello Mister Ross, I can assure you that quite a bit of research was carried out into this scheme and that your view that “there are those that don’t care as long as ‘it looks pretty’ ” is unfortunatly completely unfounded. Have you made a effort to pass your derogatry comments on to the collection or are you just passing comment on here to show us your wealth of intellect and wit? 😡
Yours sincerely Steven Panter.
As an aside I know you are entitled to your own view but please do not insult peoples work with such generalistic statements.
It could be made to work as long as the bellows material is replaced, if i remember correctly even the crab should work, but alas there are more pressing projects, you never say never though.
The ‘other’ PT-22 belongs to Tracy Curtis-Taylor, I think I spelt that right, and has been about at OW pretty much all season. Great aircraft and they look so right together in the air over Old Warden together. And yes they are kinner engined.
At one point Richard Shuttleworth obtained an ex-King’s flight Dragon, which was going to be used for advertising at night with lights mounted on the underside of the fuselage, he even created a company to do this service but nothing ever happened, might be worth recreating?
Not getting drawn into disposal at OW arguements
Sorry i’ve been chastised by my brother and father, it was Goldington Power station, (which incidently was the site proposed by Richard Shuttleworth for a Bedford airport back in the 30’s) in the background of the shot.
Also yes i’m reliably informed the engine was at Clapham for a short time sorry, i like the smell of steam but traction engines are more my thing, you can steer them :).
Great looking aircraft, would look nice sharing the grass with our Pup hopefully it could be coaxed out (starts thinking  We haven’t had a WWI fly in at OW) With the Fly boys aircraft around could be interesting, that is if they are still about? Any way well done to all involved and a shame the previous owner isn’t still around to see it.
Hi the power station was Little Barford just up the road from OW and Tempsford, this was knocked down early nineties? can renember seeing it being demolished just can’t think when (not good for 25 is it sorry) 😮 Old Warden tunnel is partially blocked up, went down it a few years ago very dark and nice big holes to trip over and hurt your ankle in 😀
Hello everyone, just a couple of quick questions for you, are there any surviving mk1 Harvards still around, if so are they airworthy? And does anyone know how the rebuild of the Yale (yes I know it isn’t a Harvard  ) at Duxford is progressing?
Cheers
Steve
This ridiculous bit of legislation has been bouncing about the military vehicle and re-enactors scene for a while a few changes have been made to try and make it better, and despite thousands of names on petitions the government are unmoved.
Some de-act traders at beltring had letters from various MPs letting them know that having the weapons won’t be illegal, just showing them or selling would be, fine for a trader!
They are now saying weapons made before 1850, i think, will be excempt so castles will be fine but then when did nationwide get held up with a cannon ball?
There is an update on http://www.wwiireenacting.com explaining what you can do to help.
Thanks they look great still and nice to see the personalised chocks i made are still being used 🙂
My self and Fergy1 (can we still call him this after rover75’s re-appearance :p ) will be there on the sat with whatever OW is sending across.
Great pictures but was there any sign of the Mewgull or Arrow Active?
Great shots, just wondering if any one got any pictures of the Arrow Active or some more overall shots of the Mewgull i’m having withdrawl symptoms after spending many cold winter days tending to them both.
cheers
Steve
Some Pics from Saturday
For anybody wondering about where to go today I can recommend Spanhoe. Myself and Fergy1 plus Uncle and Aunt spent a great day there yesterday in spite of the weather – I don’t think so many people have been crammed in to the museum hangar in one go before during one bad spell! :p
The flying was very well done and sprinkled in with some vehicles and reenactors on the ground. The first item was an aerial attack between an ‘Auster’ and a Focke-Wulf. Although not quite period they both put on a good show with pyrotechnics added.
The Belgian Gemini also put on a good show in challenging conditions as the wind was gusting a lot as the tail end of a storm went through.
The T33 put on a good display during one of the frequent blue sky spells making good use of the gap in the clouds to put on a full aerobatic routine. This was then followed by a C17 from the 315th troop carrying regiment paying tribute to their predecessors who flew from Spanhoe.
There were also displays from P51D Janie and a full aerobatic display from a locally based trainer. However the camera batteries had packed up! 🙁
Hi just a quick one to say that me and Fergy1 will be there on the sat with our Dodge ambulance. Should be a good show, according to another forum there will be around 200 re-enactors from all sides especially US 82nd airborne (the 505th PIR left from Spanhoe for D-day). Aircraft in attendance will apparently include a C-47 in the Hangar.
Hope to see some of you there, look for the green vehicle with ‘discrete’ red crosses, shouldn’t be too many there!! :p :p
