My contacts tell me that there are industrial disputes around Europe (France?) that have caused the 737’s to be all out of position. So, unlike some airlines flying 737’s around Europe, BA called in a standby crew and used a “spare” aircraft to do the service.
Today (23rd) there might be some flights dropping in for fuel to cross the Atlantic due to the strikes.

Cking, I know certain aircraft move forward without advancing the throttles so is it possible there was some kind of brake problem and the aircraft moved with the engines at idle?
Either way, someone needs their backside kicking!
On a sloping ramp maybe but when it hit the tractor it would have stoped. The tractor was pushed quite a distance before the crew realized there was a problem. If you notice, the groundcrew scatter before the aircraft starts to roll. The aircrew would have to apply quite a bit of power to start the aircraft moving, (called breakaway power) The groundcrew must have heard this and got clear.
The thing that the ground crew did do wrong was not establishing headset contact with the aircrew. On hearing the throttles being advanced a quick “OI!!” would have stopped him!

Lets not hang anybody ’till the investigation findings
If you are being towed onto stand by the ground crew, you don’t just advance your throttles and try and taxi on regardless. Who ever advanced the throttles on this aircraft could have killed someone. HE NEEDS HIS A**E KICKING!!!

More to the point, what was the damage to the pilots face? If that had happened to me I would have been up the nose gear, in through the lower avionics bay, through the first class, up the stairs into the flight deck and punched him into next week!

BTW: I’d think that the public would prefer not to fly on an airline run by anyone who comes up with these ideas. Flying is a bit more serious than the private life of an overage pop star.
The public want to fly on the cheap. They don’t care about who’s driving, how many are driving, how little they are paid or how badly the drivers are treated.
Also, as Deno says, there are people who will pay for the chance to be a pilot. So why cut the co pilot when there are people who will do it for free?
It’s just a publicity stunt.

Red herring, no civilian C-17’s, yet…….;)
Have a herring Newforest;)

Excellent shots CW. That said am I alone in thinking that the A380 is one of the ugliest aircraft ever?
Bobleeds
No you are not. It’s plug ugly. Big aircraft can look nice i.e. 747 and Airbus can make a nice looking aircraft i.e. A330. The A380 is ugly, not ruggedly ugly, just ugly. In my opinion, not wanting to cause a fight you understand:D
Rgds Cking
If you had paid to go to the AVP I would have slapped you Neil:D
I am looking forward to seeing the “180” as the EK aircrew call it, on Friday.
Rgds Cking
I REALLY want to have not missed that 🙁
Lets hope for the civvie one next!
No, I’m not in work so I’ll miss it too.

I’ve had days like that! Pity it’s cost his job though:mad:
A mate of mine was rigging an Airbus door slide once. It was all “Arm, check, disarm, open, check, close. arm, check. disarm, open etc” and he got it wrong and set one off! He was hauled into the office and given his b********g and just escaped getting suspended. He said the worst part about the whole episode was that the rest of his gang called him “Nevil chute” for months! We are a cruel breed in engineering!!!!:D

Which A321 was involved.
It’s not the aircraft you need to worry about Tommy, it’s the engine and it would have been changed anyway!!!

I heard an RB211 backfire at LHR once.
It sounded like the wrath of God!
I’ve had a few surge on me when doing engine runs and it does make you jump a bit for the first few times. The funny thing is just before the engine surges it’s noise and vibration changes. It sort of “Grumbles” so you know you are just about to surge. Usualy this point is just befor the EPR or RPM figure you need to reach to declare the engine serviceable!!!
I would be easing the throttles forward gently to reach a figure so I can feel the changes. Aircrew don’t do that so they won’t get to feel the subtle changes.

American Airlines seem to have had a bad time with the Mega Death 11. At one point due to it poor reliability it was called “The Scud” because once it left the ground nobody knew were it would land!!!!

Wasn’t there a film about this called Blue Ice?
Wasn’t Elizabeth Taylor in it?

It supposedly reduces noise from the cold stream duct. It looks like it will crack across the “peaks” from “Trough – to trough” to me.
