What series engine is it. -22B, -524, -535??

Yes I’d like to know that too. I’ve looked at the 757 maintenance manual. The blade removal is straight forward but the hub is not covered in it. Hub removal is more an engine shop job and I THINK requires special tools.

Do you want the hub out as well? The blades are the easy bit the hub is a bit more involved.

I’m not sure about the presence of air marshals on flights, but I suspect that I’m not supposed to be.

Perhaps a better deterent would be VERY visible air marshal, maybe????
I did hear somebody suggest that a better deterent would be to issue ALL the passengers with 12″ kitchen knives. the minute that any would be terrorist makes his move……

Shorts in Belfast WERE building the fuselages for the Learjet. Does this mean a round of job losses in Belfast? I hope not.

The 777 has a RAT fitted as standard. It powers the centre hydraulic system in the event of a twin engine failure. It also has a generator on it to provide a electrical power

This man is known for his bullying within the industry. An ex Chanex engineer friend of mine told me he was a lot worse behind closed doors.
Good on the police for having a word with him, pity they didn’t arrest him!
Shame on you who think that this was a good thing:mad:
If it was you or one of your family he yelled at, would you be as pleased?
The check in girls have enough to put up with, without this.

Right, I did a bit of revision at work today,,
The 747 winglet is held on by ONE bolt at the front and TWO bolts at the back. (It was a long time ago!)
The 757’s winglets is slightly different. It has a short piece of extra wing rivited to the existing wingtip. The winglet is bolted to this by EIGHTEEN bolts, the wires connecting the nav lights and a bonding lead. (Always a bloody bonding lead!)
I didn’t get a look at the MEL so I don’t know if you can dispatch it with one missing.

The vast majority of that sounds like utter nonsense to me!

The bit about cabin air not being recycled is. As we all know a percentage of cabin air is re filtered and re circulated.

Plus, as evidenced numerous times, the winglets on the A330/A340 are not an essential aerodynamic part. You can remove them and still fly the aircraft.

Same goes for the B744 and all these retrofitted blended winglet 737, 757s and 767s.

I don’t know about the retrofitts. They don’t look as easy to remove as the 747-400 or the A330. I would love to find out for sure.
I help replace a 747-400 winglet years ago. Easy. A bunch of panels, two big pins at the front, two (or was it one???) smaller pin(s) at the back and a bonding lead. There it is, on the floor. The only thing about it was that it is an awkward lump high up, not the kind of thing you would want to do without a crane. It’s not heavy, just awkward, thats all.

Leading edge Vs Trailing edge. There is no contest. If you were to run a Blériot leading edge into a Sturmovik trailing edge the Blériot would fly away!

Exactly right, Paul. Moisture does get between the window’s inner and outer layer. It condenses, freezes and looks crap.
Whilst there was no safety issue hear, there was good reason to inform the crew. They should have put the defect into the tech log and it should be looked at by the maintenance crew.
Don’t ever think that something unusual that you see is not worth querying. 99 times out of 100 it will be nothing to worry about. BUT…… it’s that one time out a hundred that counts! (Also all of these kind of defect keeps me and my mates in a job!)
I hate seeing this on an aircraft it just looks scruffy. It takes about twenty minutes to change a window seal but they never give us time to do it!
FLYBYDONNI Don’t worry you wasn’t in any danger
