The first thing that sruck me about the repair to that ,is the access behind it. That damage runs from about halfway along the lower avionics bay to behind the crew oxygen bottle stowage in the forwad freight bay.
To get at it will require the stripping out of all of the avionics and their racks on the right hand side of the bay. Once the repair has been done and all the swarf has been removed there will be an awful lot of testing going on!
The area behind it is also very cramped so the repair will take some time because you won’t be able to get more than one man in the avionic bay at a time. The area in the fwd freight is a little more accessable.
As for the proximity of the static ports. The RVSM area (The grey dotted line oblong on the fuselage) is not affected. The static port aft of it might cause a problem but, as it is below the repair I doubt it. But I would of course consult the relevent SRM’s before starting any work on the aircraft!
Yes I think there will be some serious overtime involved!

    You have lost me mate!!
    Good luck any way
Hotels to airports, mmmm. You still have to deal with Joe Public, unless you are out on the ramp. There are some good people out there, plenty of shouting and laughing .

What do you expect? They are a low cost airline and the most expensive bit of the operation is wages. They would base more out there if they could.
An ex work mate went working for another British low cost out fit. They had a lot of maintenace done abroad. You can guess what I’m about to say, can’t you! Needless to say there is one out fit He and I will not be flying on!
Any way why are people getting upset about jobs being exported now? When the ship/motor bike/clothing/electronic/car manufacturing industrys were distroyed by cheap forign imports did any body complain?

    (As 1L says, it’s a small cramped )

Is not the same body section as the 733?
    For sure it is.

It’s the same body cross section as the 707, 727 and 757
The best place to sit on a -200 is aft of the wing so you can watch the reverser buckets deploy.
I’ll be sad to see the -200’s go because it was the first type I got Licenced on. I still like the re-assuring “pop” that the JT-8’s gave when they lit up. The low booming rumble that all the big fans give is not quite the same!

I too would like to add my thanks as the Spitfire and Hurricane flew over Donnington park yesterday. They Brightened up an otherwise boring day watching motor racing. Don’t ask, she arranged it, I can’t stand cars at all!
The Reds also flew over (Thanks too) The only thing was the two flew over during some race or other and they didn’t stop the race so we could hear the Merlin’s (AHHH!!)
I only went because, she told me too and it was free! (Some Renault promotion or other.) Won’t be going again. I did try to talk her into Cosford as it was (sort)of in the area but she wouldn’t buy it!,
Next year she has organized us to go and watch the Dulux paint drying championship!!!!

    Terror on aviation forum
Daily Mail slow news day rubish causes pandamonium on popular aviation forum
A report about a BMIbaby go around causes panic amongst aviation enthusiasts.
“I thought I was going to fall asleep” said one menber of the forum
” my heart carried on as normal” said another
Several of the forum members have called for everything to be banned and everybody to be sent back to were they came from
One of the members, C***g attributed the panic to global warming, the weakness of the pound and food additives. “A good clip around the ears and national service, is what they need” he added.

    I WILL NEVER FLY AGAIN

I must admit, some times when I’ve done every thing I can think off to clear a snag, I’ve wanted to kill SOMETHING to make the aircraft serviceable!

I don’t follow what you mean here??

I think what he means is that the gutter press think that only America and Europe make aeroplanes. They are bissfully un aware that Brazil has a large, successful aerospace industry. To them Brazil only makes coffee, destroys rain forests and harbours nazis.

CKing… I think there should be a forum collection to get you a nice camera so you can share more shots of aircraft from these awesome airside perspectives! 😀

    Paul

Thanks Paul! I’ll have a Canon 400 with all the lenses!!!!;)

Seriously I do have a “Proper” camera that I some times take into work. The problem is that I can’t carry it around all the time, it would get in the way. Also, whilst I do try and avoid doing too much at work there are times when I end up rolling around in fuel, Skydrol or rackasan! This wouldn’t do it much good.
The camera phone is with me all the time and can be operated discreetly.

That “10” has been lurking about the airport all weeked so I managed to get another shot of it in better weather (camera phone, sorry Paul!;) )
