Hey James,
On the left hand side of Google Earth there should be section called Places.
In there you need to tick the box next to OpenATC Air Traffic, Then they should all appear on your screen.
It refreshes every minute but if you right click it and go into the properties you can change the refresh rate to 1 sec.
Hope that helped! 🙂
Not on my Google earth it don’t, have you got the premium version?

The odd thing about the FLS shots is that there is nobody on them. Every hangar I have worked in has been a hive of activity.

I don’t think that the MAS one was un contained.
Un contained engine failurs are quite rare. The engine cases on ALL of the big fans are designed to absorbe a high energy rotor burst. The wings on a lot of airliners have areas where they THINK the turbine disc will if go it gets loose. These are kept clear of fuel and are called “Dry bays”
So the “shielding” that the “expert” mentioned is not just on the 777!
Some times though the discs will get out, as happened to an AA 767 in LAX recently.
The Manchester disaster was not caused by a disc failure but by a failure of part of the combution chamber.

This has started off as a very gentlemany disscussion! Great! As has been said though the un forgiving nature of the printed word means that somebody will take the hump at CC at some point! I think that half the rows on the internet would not happen if the offeding coment was made in the pub over a pint!
Mind you some of the coments posted when C*******K and T********k say things can’t be misconstrued!!
My own worry is that somebody will not post or delete an image for fear that they will be criticised and that image will be of imense interest to the rest of us.
manc. I agree with your three points and I will add one of my own.
4).When shooting against the sky, over expose to compensate. (That cost me a whole roll of Kodachrome 64 at Greenham common!)

OK, failed miserably!!!!!An aircraft went tech in the US and they shuffeled the pack so we didn’t get the new livery.
That’s the last time I give you any hot “gen”!;)
I’m a bit upset that I tried to give you a “heads up” and I was let down.

Arn’t they? I thought they were. Sorry then Duff gen.
Thats the trouble with the American carriers and chapter eleven. They are all either in it, out of it or about to go into it! You loose track
But I do know that the rumour of one of the older American carriers in chapter eleven operating into NCL stopped the proposed AA flight dead.
Sorry Continental:o But I still wouldnt fancy 7hrs in your 757’s!
Rgds Cking
(Mind you, I wouldnt like to spend 7-8 hrs cooped up in a 757! )
But if you were a pop star, you might be travelling in a tiny exec jet.
Maybe its tough at the top.
An exec 757 is one thing, but 7hrs with the great un-washed is another!

Manston: EK is the first scheduled long haul newcastle has ever had. Rumor has it CO are interested.
The CO rumour was the reason why AA didn’t come. CO would have undercut any existing airlines because, being in chapter eleven, they don’t need to make a profit! So AA just didn’t bother. Just wait till CO either goes bust or come out of Chap 11. The fares will go up, the route will become un profitable and they will pull out. The MAN-JFK route is cheap because of that. Mind you, I wouldnt like to spend 7-8 hrs cooped up in a 757!

Don’t forget they get the pleasure of working some EVIL shift patterns aswell. Some of their start time would give an insomniac a fright!

My mouth dropped open when I saw this thread! What a difference a “B” makes!!

I went through security today and saw them searching a women deportee. The went through her bags and took every piece of make up and moisturizer the poor girl had. She was going back to an un certain future and they were stripping her on all dignity. I wonder how they sleep at night?

I too have seen some strange things in the “honesty” boxes. At the moment they are mainly filled with squeezed tooth paste tubes and half filled bottles of shower gel!!!.
Last month I am pleased to report that the ever vigilant security staff foiled a dastardly plan to bring down an aircrat with a yogart!!!! The previous three days I had managed to get my packed lunch through un molested but apparently strawberry yogart is deadly at 30,000ft!!
The “honesty” boxes at the staff entrances at Manchester are just legalized theft in my opinion:mad: AND they have the cheek to publicize the fact that they auction off the “loot” to the security staff!!!

Are we saying future airport and airline employment will only come from the friends and relatives of established employees ?[/QUOTE]
No Poland and Lithuania!
Seriously, contact the airlines with offices at your local airport. The offices will be “Landside” so the security issues will be a lot less. I doubt you would be able to actualy work “airside” but the airline will be able to get you a tempory visitors pass for a tour of the operational area.(Providing you have a valid passport)
Don’t worry about nepotism in the airline industry. It is alive and well, just ask my Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law, her Father and her brother! We all worked for the same airline at one point!
Also I do know that one of the regulars on this forum has just been taken on at his local airport without having any relatives working there. Good luck and keep us informed.
