It’s known in the trade as a “Slow news day”. The press will drag up any old c**p and try to make it “news”. They must have run out of Diana conspiracy theorys.

Sorry to say but the 3 above diverts at MAN today where 2 X Max-Jet Boeing 767’s And Eos B757 from (STN) Stansted not (LGW) = London Gatwick mate.
I stand corrected 😮
I suppose like most people I only think of LHR and LGW whenI think of London airports! (Gonna get some flak over that!!!!)

Great shots Grey, but you missed me!
The two max jet’s and the Eos were diverts from LGW. Don’t know why though. We were going to get a USAir 767, but that didn’t show.

Great shots!
Bright sunshine against an angry sky is one of the best ways to photograph anything in my opinion.
The AA 767 looks like one of their “newer” aircraft, I remember doing a walkround on one in bright sunshine once. It actualy hurt the eyes to look at it!
BTW the Emirates 777’s are having some interesting push backs at the moment due to some up coming “Road works” in front of T2. To day for example it was pushed back, tail first into the cul-de-sac. The car park gang would have got a good view of the rudder static wicks!

Well done to the Virgin Airways engineers, who did thier best to “Get it away”. It is a shame something else came along and bit you. It is also a shame that the passengers who complained didn’t see the conditions you were working in! (off a pair of wobbly steps, in semi darkness, leaning aganst a hot engine for seven hours etc) But as per normal the dedication that airline staff of all types show when the chips are down, is never appreciated.

Thanks for the hard work Lance, I know you must have felt like head butting the screen at times!!! See you around

Thanks all
Softlad, they would have to catch me first!!!. Seriously I try not to make it TOO obvious what I’m doing, I won’t identify who I work for and if there is an incident at work you won’t see any pictures of it from me. I fully expect though, that when there is a serious incident at work, there will be some fool who will take pictures of it on his phone and will sell them to the gutter press. This will end shots like this.
A330-300, I’m an aircraft engineer, who is licensed on various big jets including YOU!!!

You can fly the -400 with one winglet removed but for some strange reason, not with two!? The removal of a winglet is not a “dockyard” job , a few pannels , bonding leads and some BIG pins. But it’s a big lump and high up so you need a crane and high access equipment to get at it. I suspect that this is the reason that Boeing certified it to fly with one still fitted rather than the logical symetrical approach.

I’d heard that there are serious technical problems with it. I also noted that it was hemmed in by airport vehicles this week. Normaly they do that with an aircraft that owes the airfield money!!!!

Without wanting to start a fight, I think that it looks quite good. It displays the aircraft in such a way that you can proberbly see more of them than the “normal” eye level view. I do agree that the traditional way of hanging aircraft just gives you a view of the belly but at different angles and levels it will give you a better view.
As for aircraft not being pieces of art, I would class them more a piece of art than an un-made bed or a pickled sheep.

The one thing you do not want is more Tristars!. I worked on them in civilian service about thirteen years ago. They were at the end of their lives then. Their serviceability rate was declining rapidly and they had a serious corrosion problems. The belly skins on all of them had to be repaired or replaced but the rest of the airframe was known as “a rot box”.
When the RAF took on the ex East African VC-10’s they too had corrosion problems and their servicability rate is well known!!.
New build is the way forward but only nine? They will regret that in the long tearm.

One word Peter, Fire. The aircraft has been sitting outside in the wind and rain with non of it’s systems powered up. They will be all damp sothere is a risk of fire. The aircraft’s interior is now lit with “Household” type lighting installed after the aircraft was de commisioned has to conform to comercial electrical regulations BTW.
What all the Concords need is hangarage. MAPLC made solemn promises about putting OAC indoor but they were hollow words.Three years down the line and there is no signs of it, not eaven plans of a proposed home for the aircraft. Meanwhile they are still charging a tenner for a quick look. Tridentman does his best though! Cheers Neil!!!

Two questions
1.How will you alll recognize each other?
2.What time will the brawl start?
😉

An excellant artical that proberbly only skimms over the hard work that HHA have done to get this far. It should be required reading for anybody who says “Why can’t we have a flying Vulcan/Lightning/Phantom etc etc.” I wish them well in their endevors and look forwad to seeing the Bucc fly.

Thanks for that Mauro, they have intrigued me since you posted pictures of them!
