RE: American Bashing!
Actually, it was only a matter of time that the US was going to enter WWII. There were massive public outcries to go to the aid of the Europeans, especially the English, partially because many Americans felt close ties to the British and due to propaganda from the war torn continent (at the time, England controlled most of the cable lines to the US). FDR was trying his best to maintain American nuetrality and stay out of the conflict, but the public wouldn’t hear of this after the horror stories emerged about the treatment many Europeans recieved at the hands of the Germans.
True, Pearl Harbor did contribute to US involvement, but it would have happened anyway.

RE: Israel vs Palestine
First off, I probably don’t know everything about the issue and I will try and not pretend like I know everything.
I’ve got a question about the Saudi Peace Plan. If I remember correctly, it calls for Israel to withdraw from certain areas that it captured in the Six Days War. To me, this seems really stupid because wasn’t Isreal provoked to attack first as a response to massive buildups on its borders? And how does this particular plan propose to stop suicide bombers?
I do not think a multinational peacekeeper force (whether it be US/England, UN, NATO…) would stop the suicide bombings. What would keep them from beginning to target the peacekeepers?
Israel is left with no other alternative in my opinion than to do what they are currently doing. It seems like everything else has been tried, and now it has come to this. Bush seems aweful hypocritical to me right now. How can he call for Israel to withdraw when they are searching for terrorists, yet he goes on and on about how terrorism needs to be eliminated worldwide. Isn’t a suicide bomber who kills 20 people a terrorist, or did I miss something? I can’t remember who brought it up, but maybe Israel should also provide humanitarian aid at the moment also.
I guess the sad thing about this whole situation is how a stubborn individual can go blow themselves up and ruin an entire peace process that everyone else wants.
Just my thoughts,
Brian
