THUM flight
There you go . Spit and I posted at the same time.
THUM flight
RAF Woodvale is hosting a THUM flight celebration on May 18th and 19th.
Local reports suggest 3 Spitfires will be attending.
Don’t forget by the way that the flight was conducted using Mosquitos right up to the end.(Thrown in for accuracy sake !!!! ).
With regard to trying to get into Woodvale…save your money. It isn’t the easiest place to get into.
You could park in Woodvale Road ( by the traffic lights on the Southport side after Woodvale ) and then walk back 2 or 3 minutes to be opposite the airfield.
Good luck.
If you are at all concerned about the location just remember that one day you will want to sell and you are going to seriously deplete your market.
If you like aircraft all well and good but there are THOUSANDS who don’t.
No matter how nice the local area is a developed airfield is not a good thing to many folks.
Headcorn (Lashenden) Kent has fixed wing, rotary, aerobatics, parachuting and model aeroplane flying plus training on fixed and rotary all at the same time. Works well enough but there have been a couple of nasty incidents with parachutes and aircraft but in view of the number of “movements”
it is a very small percentage. Nonetheless still a significant loss to someone.
From what I see on the local report there was indeed only the Seaking that flew.
Today it is fine, bright and very warm with a vis well in excess of 10k.
Arrows kickoff today at 11.45. After that all should participate.
If you are thinking of driving to Southport I would seriously think about getting as near as possible and then use the frequent train services on the Liverpool line no matter which direction you come from.
There is major reconstuction work in town now and even on a weekday parking is a nightmare.
Have they bought 15% or 51%? Can you confirm please? Thanks.
Angli news
Do you mean BBC at 1800hrs or Anglia TV (ITN) ?
Thanks
Tis a Defiant originally built by Don Foreman. Was at Kemble last week. Now based at “Staverton”
The grammar and the spelling in the ticker is appalling. I wouldn’t trust them if that is the best they can do. Yes, the pic is also c..p.
Blue Max………..if you look at John Coopers original post you will see it dates back to 2004. Wake up at the back !!!
Check page 431 on BBC Ceefax. I’m sure that one of the major roads (A12)
is closed on London Road South. Unless the roadworks are completed by the end of the month it will be murder in Lowestoft.
The works are in connection with a collapsed sewer and have not been planned which is the usual format when a major event it taking place.
Khartoum
Thank you both for that.
I woke early this morning to try to be in position to spot the machine. Guess what?
I heard it OK , opened the curtains………… complete cloud over.
I’ll give them a ring . Thanks again.
Mally
Moggy C……..would that be SP from Kent?
Cheers.
Thanks OF for the memory. Note that in event one you have the Autocar with an incorrect reg. G-AY.. came a lot later than 52. Didn’t think that they had “out of sequences ” that early though.
